Sushi riot is amazing! The family run takeaway offers great food with the type of service you get from people who really care. The sushi chef is on top of his game and the seared salmon belly is one of the best things I have eaten! It’s great value considering the quality of the food. We had sushi but other customers were ordering chicken katsu curry and that smelled really good too. Maybe one to try next time I visit.

Sushi Riot is a small, family-run sushi takeaway at 23 Clarence Drive (G12 9QN) in Glasgow’s West End. Anna Chew runs front of house and her husband Leong Chew is the sushi chef; the couple have more than 20 years each in hospitality. They opened at the end of April 2021 with a takeaway concept: restaurant-quality sushi plus old and new Japanese street food, made fresh daily. Glasgow Live has featured them twice, and the second piece highlights their red-vinegar rice and creative weekend specials. There are no tables. Order ahead for collection by phoning 0141 339 4379, or get delivery through Deliveroo or Just Eat. Party platters need 24 hours’ notice and payment in advance. Diners rave about the freshness, the friendly owners and the value, and call ahead for the weekend specials. Prices are modest. Salmon nigiri is £5 (4 pieces), maki rolls about £5.80–£6.60, don rice bowls £6–£7, salmon sashimi £6.80, and platters £9–£16. Vegan items are marked VG. It’s open Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 8pm, and closed on Sunday and Monday. Hyndland station is nearby, and buses 4, 4A, 15, 141 and M4 serve the Hyndland area.
Reviews
The folks who run this place are some of the kindest people I have ever met in my life. The sushi is SUPERB. I have taken it home and eaten it there. I had to bring a friend last time to enjoy the deliciousness!
Read on Google MapsThat’s the easies 5 star review I’ve ever given!! Veryy fresh and high quality ingredients. The sushi here is absolutely delicious (the photo speaks!) and the owners are soo lovely. Highly recommended!
Read on Google MapsWe had an absolutely delightful food from Sushi Riot in Glasgow! Despite driving half an hour to get there, it was completely worth it, and we’d gladly do it again for the outstanding quality of the food and the warm hospitality we received. We tried a variety of dishes, starting with the inari, salmon maki, cucumber maki, and avocado maki. Every roll was fresh and flavorful, showcasing the care and attention the chefs put into their craft. The wakame salad and edamame beans were the perfect light and refreshing sides to complement the sushi. We also couldn’t resist picking up some seaweed snacks to take home, and they were just as delicious. What made our visit even more special was the incredibly friendly service. The owners were so welcoming and went out of their way. My son was thrilled with the lovely chopsticks he got, and they even surprised him with a few sweets as a treat. Sushi Riot is amazing, and we can’t recommend it highly enough! The combination of spectacular food and genuine hospitality makes it stand out as a must-visit take away spot for sushi lovers in Glasgow.
