Visit websiteKofi Kade (pronounced “ko-fi-ka-day”, Sinhala for “coffee shop”) is a tiny Sri Lankan-inspired sandwich shop and sauce kitchen at 636 Cathcart Road in Govanhill. Founder Rukshan Weeraratne started making chilli sauces in a London flat during lockdown, recreating flavours from his mum’s spice box. The sauces became the Sausome brand, which he sold at markets across Scotland before opening the Cathcart Road shop at the beginning of May 2024. The short menu is Sri Lankan fillings on toasted sourdough. Options include The Colombo (spiced chicken with pickled slaw), The Kandy (curried steak and cheese), The Negombo (prawns and curried potatoes), and two vegan options, The Arugambay (aubergine mojju) and The Matale (spicy mushroom). In The Herald, Ron Mackenna gave the food 9/10 and called it high-quality food from a hole-in-the-wall shop. The Skinny also reviewed it soon after opening. Diners praise the bold spice, generous portions and friendly counter service. It’s a small counter shop with only a few stools and a bench. Sandwiches are about £10–£13.50 on Deliveroo, which handles delivery; collection orders and catering go through the website. It’s closed on Mondays and is otherwise open from 11am (Tuesday–Thursday to 4pm, Friday–Saturday to 6pm, Sunday to 5pm), though Instagram lists different hours, so check before you go. No phone number is published. Crosshill station and Cathcart Road buses, including the 31, are close by.
Absolutely love this sandwich shop! They offer an amazing variety of both Sri Lankan and international flavors — every bite is bursting with real spices and authentic taste. The sandwiches are always freshly made with high-quality ingredients, and the service is truly top-notch. Their homemade hot sauce is a must-try and even available for purchase, which is a bonus! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a unique and flavorful food experience.

Read on Google MapsThe best sandwiches in Glasgow and the new gochu kurry sauce is to die for (the promo video of drinking it out of a straw was no lie, I fully understand) Fresh food, fast service and phenomenal flavours. I recommend the steak and cheese but secretly rooting for the Kandy to come back as it was 11/10! The owner is also extremely lovely and gifted us a sauce as a housewarming as we were leaving. Need more businesses that care about its customers like Kofi Kade. Thank you and we already can’t wait to come back!
Read on Google MapsAbsolutely incredible fresh sandwiches. Unbelievable flavours. Huge (but you won’t want to share). There’s very few seats so better to get take out. All sandwiches come with melted cheese, pickled onions, salad, pomegranate seeds. Pay extra for slaw! Really like that the bread isn’t super thick too. Mine was a steak and cheese for reference.
