Great food, lovely tea. The sharing platter was fantastic, a great way to try a lot of the menu. Each section was full of flavour and well cooked and was plenty for each person. Despite concerns about the spicyness levels, the chilli icons on the menu were just right. They had good selection of items for both meat and non-meat eaters. Prices were reasonable for the quality of food and the staff were helpful. Good vibes, nice restaurant and overall very good place for some Eritrean/Ethiopian food.

Had an excellent time here with friends for my birthday dinner! My first experience of Ethiopian/Eritrean and it was absolutely delicious and full of flavour- could not recommend more! We ordered one large meat platter and one large vegan platter for our table of 7. The platters provided a wide selection of different dishes to try and we all enjoyed each one of them. And the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. I would definitely come back to Massawa and would recommend highly to friends and family.

This place is utterly unmissable. I had never eaten Eritrean or Ethiopian food before but it was genuinely some of the most delicious food I’ve had in Glasgow. The service was really warm and welcoming and friendly and the decor in Massawa was absolutely beautiful. A must visit.

Flavoursome food, a relaxed atmosphere and great service. Massawa is everything a neighbourhood independent restaurant should be. We went for the sharing platter of 2 meat and 2 veg dishes, served with flatbread and rice. It was the best introduction to Eritrean and Ethiopian food that we could've wished for. The shiro (clay pot stew of ground chickpeas, aka the brown blobs on the pic) was especially tasty. The tea infused with cardamom, clove and cinnamon is also a worthwhile addition. Standout: there was a really good balance between veggie and meat dishes, making it a good place for dining if your group has varied dietary preferences.

Vibrant unique food in the heart of the west end. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and food is served on wonderful bright plates with the lovely touch of it being revealed to you after the covering is taken off in front of your eyes. The curry was not too spicy, packed with juicy lamb and just the right amount of oil to make it rich and filling. It felt like a proper treat! Sadly the service was pretty slow (taking around 50 mins to arrive) when there was only 3 tables in but I can’t justify dropping the rating as the food was just that good. Highly recommend and looking forward to coming back for more! Cheers :)
