Visited on a Thursday afternoon, on a whim and I am so glad I stopped in. Extremely dog friendly pub with great food and wide selection of spirits to warm one up of a brisk afternoon. The Cullen Skink was excellent, served with ample buttered bread. But the atmosphere is what I loved, it simply feels like a traditional pub. Look forward to visiting again soon.

Overview
The Curler’s Rest on Byres Road is a Nicholson’s (Mitchells & Butlers) pub in what were two 18th-century cottages — long known as Curlers Tavern, the first building on this stretch of the road in the mid-1840s, named for a nearby curling pond. Folklore about Charles II and a royal Sunday-opening charter is colour, not proven fact. From 1999 it ran as a Scream student pub before a June 2010 refurb put the Curler’s Rest name back on the door. Expect chain British pub classics done Nicholson’s-style: pies (Crofter’s, steak & pale ale), real ales and world beers downstairs, a quieter upstairs room with open fire and bigger tables for groups. Pavement tables, dog-friendly, family-friendly until early evening. Three function rooms for private parties. Open daily from noon (until midnight most nights; later Fri–Sat). Hillhead subway is around the corner. Book online or via the Nicholson’s app; say if you want outdoor seating, though they can’t guarantee it.
Reviews
Enjoyed their lunch menu, good selection, reasonable priced (great price for the area actually). Attentive staff members, nice atmosphere 🎶
Read on Google MapsThe drink was nice atmosphere great, food was mid. I ordered the Nourish Bowl with brown rice and quinoa for 14 pounds. There were literally 2 grains of rice
Read on Google MapsThe food is good pub grub. There are often things that aren’t available. Cosy atmosphere with lots of seating options (booths, tables, high tops, sofas upstairs). Good casual dining option with a group.
Read on Google MapsMy brother worked here in the late 60's early 70's and i had never been in. Now I go in on my monthly visit to nearby friends. Lovely quiet atmosphere which you can hear your conversations. Whiskey and ginger ale, 2 gin and tonics and a coke came to £24.60 - don't know if that's expensive or not, but seemed a little dear to me. We never had anything to eat so cannot rate the food, but everything else was perfect. I appreciated the lovely clean toilets as well. Can't wait to return.
