Overview

CATCH Fish & Chips Netherlee at 570 Clarkston Road – because somewhere along the way, a fish and chip shop evolved into something absolutely fabulous and we're here for it. With a respectable 4.1-star rating from 195 reviews, this posh modern neighbourhood fish and chip shop is proving that deep-fried comfort food can absolutely be elevated without losing its soul. Here's the thing about CATCH: they've taken your childhood Friday night staple and given it a glow-up worthy of a reality show. Sure, they do the classic haddock and chips that would make any traditionalist weep with joy, but then they went and added lobster, halibut, langoustine tails, beef burgers, and old-fashioned fish finger butties to the menu. It's like they looked at a regular chippy and said "but what if we made it fancy" and then actually did it without being pretentious about it. Located on Clarkston Road in the heart of Netherlee, CATCH serves exceptionally sourced seafood that they're probably quite proud of. Where possible, they source from Scottish coastal fisheries that follow best practices and sustainable fishing methods (because quality AND conscience makes the food taste better). They even have a fully stocked bar with craft beers from Scotland and beyond, plus bubbly from Italy and France, which means you can have posh fish and chips with a carefully curated wine selection. The potatoes? Peeled daily, chipped, and twice-cooked in rapeseed oil that they recycle (we see you, environmental consciousness). Opening hours are pretty accommodating – they're ready whenever you need fish and chips in your life, which is frankly all the time if we're being honest about it.

Sadly, I feel the need to leave a review by way of a warning to others. This place used to be great. We have used it regularly for 5 years. But we have now had 3 very bad suppers in a row, so our time using Catch has ended. This year, we've received fewer and fewer chips, the fish is getting soggier, and we weren't given any tartare last time either. The portion at the front of the attached pic is a "large" (we'd been nibbling the fish, but it's the pathetic amount of chips I wanted to show you). It's not cheap either, which you wouldn't mind if you got your money's worth, but you don't anymore. The bin at the door was stinking too, lots of insects flying around on a warm day and floors/windows inside look v dirty. Shame, as it was a fab local chippy before.

The worst vegan fish and chips I've had. If you're going to offer a vegan menu at least make it good. We got vegan fish and chips, which is common in a lot of fish and chip shops now. However the portion for the price was poor. The item provided was not vegan fish nor did it resemble the item advertised on the menu. What we got was a kids portion of vegan fish fingers which were cooked to a crisp and barely edible. Won't be returning.

Got a Catch Delivery, ordered to East Kilbride. The delivery came very quickly considering. I had to try the fish and chips, and it was probably the best battered fish I have had delivered so far. I would definitely order again sometime..

Fish was delicious (crispy batter, meaty fish - lovely!) but the portions are waaay too small. Really disappointing, felt more like eating someone’s leftovers than having a meal to myself.

The standard for chicken tempura is the equivalent to chicken balls out of a Chinese. I can also officially say that Catch Netherlee has the driest chips in Glasgow (possibly Scotland). The standard when this shop opened was high which is a shame because now there is none.
