What People Are Saying

A Bite Of China offers Chinese takeaway, receiving mixed reviews that reflect both strengths when quality standards are met and significant concerns about food quality, safety, and consistency. The restaurant has been described as lovely when operating well, though quality control and food safety issues have been raised by many reviewers.

The food at A Bite Of China receives positive feedback when quality standards are met, with dishes described as lovely and featuring amazing sauce. The chicken curry receives particular praise, described as having good different size pieces which actually taste like the real deal instead of wobbly bits of chicken you sometimes tend to get, and the sauce is described as amazing. The chicken spring rolls and curry sauce receive positive feedback, described as good.

However, there have been serious quality control and food safety issues reported. One reviewer found that the cut up chicken in the chicken fried rice was off, and even after mixing the fried rice with chips and curry sauce, the smell from the sauce didn't hide the bad chicken. Two adult meals had to go in the bin, and the reviewer experienced food poisoning in the morning after taking a couple of bites before smelling and tasting bad. Food quality issues have been consistently reported, with one reviewer describing it as absolutely terrible, noting everything was soaked in grease, curry sauce was disgusting, and salt and chilli chicken was just all onions and tasted out of date. The chicken has been described as tasting like heated up leftovers, and both main courses have been described as lacking seasoning (one very hot but little else). Preparation concerns have been raised, with chips described as undercooked (mentioned multiple times), sauce described as too thick and didn't run, tasted like reheated old stuff, spare ribs described as tiny and full of gristle, and chicken wings described as far too salty and small. The prawn crackers have been described as soft, and food has been described as late.

Service receives mixed feedback, with staff described as nice and friendly when good, but there have been no specific service complaints beyond food quality issues.

For visitors to Glasgow, A Bite Of China offers Chinese takeaway that can be lovely and feature amazing sauce when quality standards are met. The restaurant's ability to deliver good chicken curry with different size pieces and amazing sauce has earned it positive recommendations from some reviewers. However, there have been significant concerns raised about food quality consistency, food safety (including off chicken and food poisoning), and preparation standards. The combination of generally good food when quality is consistent, but significant quality control and safety concerns, makes it a mixed experience, and the restaurant would benefit from addressing food quality control, ensuring food safety protocols, and maintaining consistent preparation standards to ensure all guests have safe and positive experiences.

First and definitely the last time used. Food late, prawn crackers soft. Both main courses lacked seasoning - one very hot but little else. Chicken tasted like heated up leftovers. Quite honestly the poorest Chinese takeaway we’ve had ….. and we’ve lived here 30 years!
