Cafe Yaro is a daytime desi breakfast and brunch cafe on Pollokshaws Road in Shawlands, opened in 2022 by friends Yash Trikha and Roshan Robert (the name “Yaro” means friends in Hindi/Urdu). Glasgow Live covered their launch story in early 2023; both have hospitality backgrounds, including hotel work in the city. The kitchen mixes Scottish cafe staples with Indian and Sri Lankan comfort food: desi breakfast with chole and parathas, spicy bhurji eggs, Maggi noodles, samosa chaat, masala chai and pink tea, alongside big breakfasts, toasties, burgers and cakes. Official hours are 9am–4pm every day. Tables can be reserved on the website; there is also online ordering and delivery via Uber Eats, Just Eat and Deliveroo. Google ratings sit very high (around 4.9), with diners often pointing to the desi breakfasts, chai and friendly room.
Lovely place to have some lunch! I popped in during my lunch break and had an iced coffee and an amazing chipotle turkey sandwich which was filling and the flavours were great. My friend enjoyed the chicken burger. Will definitely be back, staff were lovely and there were lots of options including Indian food. Will be back to try more of the menu!
