Overview

Bag O’ Nails opened on Dumbarton Road in Partick around the end of August 2016, replacing the Partick Tavern. Named after the Soho club where Jimi Hendrix first played in London, it was launched by Mark Lappin, Paul Bright and Gerry Tartaglia (links to Slouch, Howlin’ Wolf and Maggie May’s). It is a late-night West End pub-restaurant with live music most weeks, including a well-known Thursday Open Stage for unsigned acts. Food is homemade on site (chefs John and Tomas named on the menu): breakfast/brunch 11am–4pm, Sunday roast, kids’ make-your-own pizza, and Bar Bites from 10pm to 1am. The bar stocks a wide bottled beer and spirits list and stays open until 1am. Scran Awards Gastro Pub of the Year 2023 and SLTN Independent Pub of the Year 2023. Book by email or phone. Child-friendly earlier in the evening. Kelvinhall subway is a short walk along Dumbarton Road.

The food was lovely and the service was good. The band were good but so loud it was ridiculous! We were seated in the restaurant but the band was so loud, you couldn't have a conversation, you couldn't even hear the person serving and they couldn't hear me. I had every expectation of the pub being lively but this was too much. For 45mins we just looked at each other, any attempt at conversation went like "What?" "Eh" . If you want to be able to hear yourself think or talk to the person with you don't go between 4-6pm on a Saturday

So glad we decided to call in this place on the way back to the subway station from Kelvingrove museum. Didn't look the best from outside with a group of smokers hanging around the door - but such a difference inside. Bright light and airy, lovely staff and great décor. excellent choice from the menu as well as lunchtime specials. And a great choice of ales including Drygate brewery which we visited the day before. Very happy - thanks all

Service was great and the food was good. Pizza was lovely and the onion rings where crispy. Had some lovely cocktails to. The waitress was really helpful.

Music was very loud, the venue was cold. Decent selection, but on the pricey side. Just over £9 for a pint and a coke.

We love it here. Live music and great food and cocktails for reasonable prices. Staff have always been friendly and not had a bad night here.
