Glasgow restaurant
The Drake is a long-running basement pub on the corner of Woodlands Road and Lynedoch Street, on the edge of the West End near Charing Cross. Inside it is stone walls, a wood-burning stove, worn rugs and banquette seating, and it is dog- and family-friendly. Since January 2025 it has been run by Glasgow group Merchant Pubs & Bars (Blackfriars, BAaD), who added HD screens with Sky Sports, a wider draught range and a new menu. The food is pub classics done with some care: fish and chips, steak and Guinness pie, smashed burgers, plus 12-inch Neapolitan-style pizzas (Nonna Said) with vegan cheese available. Mains run around £16-£18 and pizzas £13-£16. Sunday roasts are what it is best known for, with reviewers praising the Yorkshire puddings and gravy; there is a two-course Sunday set menu. It also takes private functions. Open daily from noon until midnight (1am Friday and Saturday).
Excellent Sunday roast, lovely cosy atmosphere with the fires burning next to us. Staff were excellent, so accommodating on a very busy day. We had the beef sirloin, would definitely recommend as the quality of the meat was very good. Also, a nice simple menu - just three roasts all priced at £20. Would definitely visit again, thanks!

Read on Google MapsWas really disappointing. Made the trip for a Sunday roast and it was honestly like a school dinner! Couldn’t fault the meat but the roast potatoes were rotten. They looked like frozen potatoes and really didn’t taste great. Vegetables were sparse. Was soo disappointed and certainly not value for money. It was also luke warm. Not the Sunday roasts they used be!

Read on Google MapsMore well known for its food and Sunday roast dinners it’s a slightly different style of bar. Very discreet and low key. If your looking for somewhere you can converse or catch your thoughts I would recommend. Barman very friendly and a homely vibe
