Kurdish Street Food is a small takeaway on Allison Street in Govanhill, a short walk from The Rum Shack and Crosshill station. It is known for spit-roasted shawarma and charcoal kebabs served in naan baked to order in a tandoor, plus falafel wraps and a few vegetarian options. Deliveroo and TripAdvisor both list it as halal. The room is unassuming — a handful of booths and seats for eat-in, with most custom grab-and-go — and it stays busy from lunch through late evening. The Skinny’s 2019 Food & Drink Survey readers tipped it in Best Streetfood and Takeaway; the same year it was shortlisted for Streetfood of the Year at the inaugural Scottish Takeaway Awards. Glasgow Bell’s 2024 shawarma feature still ranks it among the city’s best wraps, praising the fresh bread, salad choice and generous portions. Expect a wait when it is packed. Order in person, by phone (0141 423 7272), on the shop’s Mealzo site (cash or Moneos online), or via Deliveroo. Google rates it about 4.5 from several hundred reviews. Typical spend is inexpensive: wraps roughly £6–£9, plated shawarma and kebabs around £11–£14 on delivery menus (in-shop prices can be a little lower).
Mixed shawarma not great. Lamb too chewy and chicken bland. Girl.servimg was very polite but I was overcharged. £15 for mixed shawarma, chips and naan. Did not even include a drink lol. Bread was not cooked properly. Guys cooking food looked absolutely miserable. would not return sadly as there are better places in the area.

Read on Google MapsWe visited with the family impromptu. We had a great shawarma wrap with delicious tahini sauce each. Very friendly and patient staff even though our kid broke one of their salt shakers 😅. We'll definitely visit again, I hope without breaking anything..
Read on Google MapsWe visited Kurdish Street Food today and it was absolutely amazing! The food was delicious, the staff were very friendly, and the service was excellent. We really enjoyed the fresh hot bread and the great hospitality. The prices were very reasonable, and the quality was much better than we expected. We ordered the mixed grill, which was more than enough for our family. It was a wonderful experience and we truly enjoyed everything. Highly recommended!
