The food here is delicious! We tried their homemade kimchi, it was fresh and full of flavour. The corndog was super cheesy, and the bulgogi beef fries were incredible; the beef just melted in our mouths. The star of the show was definitely the Honey Butter Fried Chicken - crispy, sweet and buttery in all the right ways. Must try! The staff were friendly and chatty too.
Read on Google MapsDelicious! Chicken super crispy and lovely wee skin on chips. Sticky rice perfect too and sauces beautiful! Great value lunch deal with fried chicken & chips/rice & drink for £8.50. Enjoyed much more than expected and defo be back!
Read on Google MapsIt’s a nice wee spot for lunch, but wouldn’t be my first choice. It’s odd that there’s self service machines in such a small place, there’s a couple of tables / long benches can maybe sit 10 people in the full place Foods alright. Not a huge fan of gochujang here, but other choices are quite an expensive while small burger, chicken and rice, a bibimbap bowl and some random kimchi assorted goods. Also the portions of meat are awful small for how much you pay. Service is pretty slow, takes a while for things to arrive, but food is hot and somewhat flavourful when it arrives. Reasonable selection of drinks / coffees and teas but some of them don’t taste great. Staff are very friendly and helpful however and the atmosphere is quirky and warm. Overall it’s decent
Read on Google MapsAs an asian who grew up in East Asia and has had authentic Korean food I can confirm that this is not remotely Korean at all. Honestly would even be gutted to call it a fusion. Extremely disappointed as the food was unbelievably tasteless and plain. Ordered the Koreatown pizza and corndog. First of all, what you get for a 7 pounds pizza is a piece of bread that's smaller than a iPhone 15 with cheese and a shameful amount of pulled beef brisket kind of beef. The beef is absolutely not bulgogi-related as its honestly not much more flavourful than a purely boiled piece of beef (seriously where was my bulgogi???) They did mention the size of the pizza in the description so I don't blame the size but was expecting the beef being well marinated or at least covered with bulgogi sauce. As for the corndog, they used a Frankfurter sausage instead of hot dog which is again mentioned in the description so understandable if it tastes not as authentic due to the choice of sausage. However, the batter outside is not what you would use for a Korean/ asian style hotdog. It’s much fluffier and tastes more like a pizza dough/ bread instead of the batter you would normally use which should have a hint of sweetness and is denser. I would say the corndog itself is ok if there is no “korean” in the description. Another thing I wanted to point out is the 5% service charge they automatically apply for you when you check out on the kiosk, even for the take out order. Yes it is removable but I do think it's quite cheeky to add that as I believe there're people like me who didn't notice but pay for it. Also isn't it slightly questionable for the take out customer to pay for the service? I had high expectations for Kimchi Cult but unfortunately ended up writing an essay expressing how upsetting my experience was. I never hesitate to pay for the food and the service even when the portion size might be small, as long as it is good. But this time I feel angry, disrespected and its sad how people who have never tried Korean would think this is Korean. Overall would not recommend. It’s not that they use bad ingredients or the food tastes bad, it’s the fact they describe themselves as Korean food (or Korean inspired?) but genuinely it is bland enough to maybe be an insult to Korean people, the culture, and Asian food in general. The food and the restaurant look so so good, but have no soul, genuinely.
Read on Google MapsWas really disappointed by the food after reading the menu and it all sounding amazing. One fried chicken just wasn't great, but the other was absolutely covered in turmeric or some other herb/s and was inedible. The cheese noodles had no flavour and were overcooked. Again we couldn't eat these. The bibimbap was lacklustre but I'll admit maybe it's just not a dish for me generally. Blueberry lemonade tasted like sweeteners and didn't have any actual fruit flavour. Didn't drink this either. The best thing we had was the mozzarella dogs. Hopefully we were just unlucky and they were having a day and thankfully Uber Eats have refunded us.
