Glasgow restaurant
El Jefe's is a late-night Mexican bar and restaurant on Argyle Street in Finnieston, with a sister site on Nicolson Street in Edinburgh. Its own tagline is "Tacos. Tequila. Tunes.", and it leans into the party side: cocktails, a dance floor and live mariachi every Friday and Saturday at Finnieston, with food served until 1am. The menu runs on tacos served in pairs (£14), burritos (£16) and quesadillas (£18), with fillings such as beef birria, carne asada, barbacoa lamb and Corona-battered Baja fish. There are small plates from £6 to £9.50, including patatas bravas and elote-style corn ribs, plus a late-night menu from 10pm to 1am. On Sundays there are roasts for two, with a Mexican twist, from £40 to £60. The drinks lean heavily on tequila and mezcal: margaritas from £12, a £20 tequila flight, and the house Sombrero shots. There's also a short list of alcohol-free cocktails. Tacos can be made gluten free with corn tortillas, and there's a dedicated gluten-free fryer, though the kitchen is shared. Bookings are taken online.
We had booked a high table but when we arrived I asked if we could change, and that was done for us. Food and cocktails were amazing. Staff really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be back soon

We came to the same branch last year for our first date🥰 The food was amazing as usual 😍the frozen margarita was absolutely delicious 🤤 I also need to say that the blonde girl that was serving us, she was so nice and lovely 🥹I have never been served by such an amazing waitress before 🩷

We visited at the end of April whilst exploring the city and we decided to book our recent concert venue in Glasgow so we could return as the atmosphere and food were so amazing. The food is full of flavour and decent portion sizes and good prices. The service is fast and our waitress Victoria was especially lovely and friendly asking us questions about our trip and wishing us well with our concert. We will 100% be back in the future ☺️
