Overview

Church on the Hill occupies the former Langside Hill Church at 16 Algie Street, Shawlands — an 1896 Graeco-Roman building by Alexander Skirving (a pupil of Alexander “Greek” Thomson) that first became a bar in the 1990s after a fire. Signature Pubs took it on and reopened it in 2018 after a major refurbishment that opened up the ceiling and restored windows. It runs as a south-side neighbourhood bar-restaurant: seasonal pub food, vegan menu, 1896 wagyu burger, 14 beers on tap, cocktails, sport on TV, quiz Mondays, karaoke Fridays. Kitchen until 9pm. Weekend brunch Sat–Sun 10am–1pm. Dog-friendly; under-18s with an adult until 9pm. Book online or call 0141 343 7569; parties of 10+ email shout@churchonthehill.co.uk. Nearest Subway is around Pollokshields East / Queen's Park on foot or bus along Kilmarnock Road / Pollokshaws Road.

Hands down some of the best service I’ve ever experienced. They couldn’t fulfil our original booking but the length they went to make it right was above and beyond. Great food, great staff, can’t recommend it highly enough

Brilliant place for Sunday roast, delicious food, plenty of TVs for all sport and great games/gift bags for kids which keeps them occupied. Friendly local atmosphere. Their Halloween party looks amazing so I will need to book tickets! Thanks guys for fantastic family dinner.

Visited tonight, 29th January. Service was fantastic, our server was very knowledgeable. Her attention to detail was impeccable. Thanks for looking after us. Nice Atmosphere before the kick off today. Good to see both sets of fans enjoying themselves. Large selection of beers. Decent food, generous portion of fries. Lots of seats and large beer garden.

The food was amazing. The portion size was just right, and the menu is reasonable priced. We had lunch, so there was plenty of seating. But what a fantastic place to eat, we will definitely be going back

We celebrated a birthday with 15 of us. It was the weekend brunch menu and it was brilliant. The food and drinks were great and we preordered, which was perfect. The staff were great and the atmosphere was perfect. Relaxed and comfortable. Can’t thank all the staff enough. Great food. We will be back.
