Big Slope is a tenement-basement pub and grill at 36A Kelvingrove Street, Finnieston / Kelvingrove — steps from Kelvingrove Park and the Art Gallery, named for the park’s grassy hill. It has traded as Big Slope since around 2006 in the former Air Organic space (Herald). Expect an après-ski vibe — wood veneers, leather alcoves, faux/log fire — and a sunken wraparound terrace that works as a beer garden when the sun’s out. Food is unpretentious pub/gastro-pub fare (Sunday roast, fish and chips, burgers and seasonal specials in older press); screens for sport, quizzes and occasional live music round out the local-pub offer. CAMRA lists daily hours 11am–midnight with lunch and evening meals and outdoor tables; some aggregators show noon opens or an 11pm close — confirm by phone. Service was warm, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, despite the lady at the bar being on her own. The sticky pork salad was the best thing I’ve tasted in a while, and the burgers were so juicy and tasty. There is a nice cozy fireplace for cold days, which we sat next to. We can't wait to go back when in Glasgow again.

Read on Google MapsPopped into here for a burger before heading home from a weekend in Glasgow. It was fairly quiet but I preferred it like that. Food was really nice but one star knocked off for the staff member not returning with any mayo when she'd asked us if we needed any sauces and had said yes!
