Overview
Beer Bar is the main bar inside Glasgow University Union at 32 University Avenue — cheap student pints, 14 draught taps, jukebox, games machines and a darts board, with a reputation for packed Thursday nights and table-dancing singalongs at big events. GUU itself dates to 1885 and has sat on University Avenue since 1930. Food is not the Beer Bar’s focus; the Union Kitchen in the same building covers breakfast through dinner (signature chicken burgers, weekly specials, veggie/vegan options, the classic chips and cheese students write love letters about). Upstairs, the billiards hall has snooker from £5.50/hour and pool tables at £1 a play. Monday Beer Bar Quiz is at 8pm; Saturdays often run late with live music or DJs (open until 2am on the weekly events page). Access is primarily for GUU members — guests are usually signed in by a member, and ID policies tighten on busy club nights. Kelvinbridge or Hillhead subway both sit a short walk from campus.

Pretty good Uni crowd and cheaper than other bars around. The only negative side is they serve the second pint in plastic glasses, don’t know the reason about this. Anyways a good place to go and enjoy.

Oh Beer Bar. What a place to be. Small, cosy, sticky floors and cheap pints. £1.50 for a G&T!
