⭐ A Delightful Dining Experience From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting ambience set the perfect tone for the evening. The decor was tasteful and cozy, with just the right lighting and background music to create a relaxed atmosphere without being too loud. The food was absolutely fantastic! Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. You can tell the ingredients were fresh, and the attention to detail in both taste and plating was impressive. Whether it was the starters, main course, or dessert, everything exceeded expectations. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and service was smooth throughout. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a great dining experience with both delicious food and a lovely setting. Definitely coming back!

The server Hessain was excellent and very hospitable and looked after us very well. The menu was good and had various options. The food was also good and server was able to describe the dishes to us which helped us decide which is always good with variance of the origin of dishes. The restaurant was busy but service was quick. I would definitely recommend.

Had a great dinner experience at Akbar’s! The service was friendly and prompt, and the restaurant had a lively, welcoming atmosphere. We started with samosa chaat, mushroom puri, and chicken wings – all packed with flavour. The samosa chaat was perfectly tangy and crisp, the mushroom puri was rich and comforting, and the wings were juicy with a nice spicy kick. For mains, we went with Charsi chicken, chicken biryani, veg biryani, and a family-sized garlic naan. The Charsi chicken was the standout dish – full of bold, smoky flavours and cooked beautifully. The chicken biryani was fragrant, well-spiced, and came in a generous portion. The veg biryani, however, seemed like it had been prepared earlier and just reheated before serving – it lacked the freshness and texture of the other dishes. The garlic naan was large, soft, and perfect for sharing. We also got a jug of mango lassi – and that’s an absolute must-have! Creamy, refreshing, and the perfect balance of sweetness – it tied the meal together beautifully. Points for Improvement: - Starter portions could be a bit more generous - A wider variety of vegetarian options would be appreciated - Dish presentation could be more refined to match the flavours - Staff could be a little more welcoming and engaging Overall, Akbar’s offers a solid dining experience for non vegetarians with great starters, flavourful mains, and standout drinks. A few small tweaks and it would be perfect. Will definitely return, especially for the Charsi chicken and mango lassi!

If you’re in Glasgow and you love a curry then go straight to Akbar’s. The ‘benchmark’, Butter Chicken was excellent as was the aubergine on fried onion, coriander chutney, garlic naan and mango lassi. Spicy yet deeply satisfying, the food was delivered quickly by very attentive and friendly staff. The OTT decor with purple mood lighting, music, chandeliers and lots of mirrors just made the whole experience even more enjoyable 💜 Very busy on a Thursday evening so booking is recommended. Highly recommend Akbar’s. 👍👍👍

⭐☆☆☆☆ Extremely disappointing experience at Akbar’s Glasgow. The food was very poor – I honestly could have cooked a better meal at home. The plates were plastic, which felt cheap for a restaurant of this level. The toilets were disgusting — not clean at all, with dust and grease everywhere, broken door handles, two broken hand dryers, and even a missing toilet seat. After eating, I had to rush to the toilet with loose motions — clearly something wasn’t right with the food quality or hygiene. The whole place feels very run down and badly maintained. I’ve taken photos to include with this review so people can see the condition for themselves. Definitely would not recommend or return.
