Smile Cafe is an Italian-style daytime cafe at 121 Douglas Street, Glasgow G2 4HF (city centre, near Anderston and Charing Cross). Owners Amy and Paul Mackintosh took over the Douglas Street site and also run Coffee Engine by High Street station, with a third Smile Cafe opened in Bellshill (Glasgow Times). Order at the bar; there is no online booking page on the official site. In 2024 the Douglas Street cafe won three Scottish Cafe and Bakery Awards — Cafe of the Year (South West), overall Cafe of the Year, and Best Loved Cafe (South West) — reported by the Glasgow Times after the 18 February ceremony. Later that year Glasgow World listed Smile Cafe as Café/Bistro of the Year (Glasgow) at the 10th Food Awards Scotland. The menu board on the site still carries a “Scottish Cafe Awards 2022 Regional Winner” banner. It’s a daytime stop for coffee, breakfast (served until 11:30am on the menu images), sandwiches, pizza, pasta of the day, salads and cakes. Official hours: open daily 8am–5pm. Menu image prices (undated; filenames suggest early 2023) include cold sandwiches from about £6.20, toasted from £6.80, breakfast rolls from £3.40, and coffees around £2.30–£3.50 — treat as indicative until confirmed in person. Catering for events/meetings is offered (“full catering menu coming soon”).
Excellent place to grab a bite to eat and start your day. I ordered the scrambled eggs on toast and roll with bacon (not pictured) with an espresso. Quality food for a good price. Also truly wonderful atmosphere and great service.

I went on Monday afternoon, so it was relaxed and quiet. You could easily make this your regular, favourite spot.

The staff were very polite and attentive, good footfall of passing trade (like myself) and what seemed to be regulars. Sadly I only had a coffee and cake on this occasion but it was great coffee at a brilliant price. Thank you all, so glad I popped in.
