Overview
Cafe India on Main Street – where Thornliebank gets seriously spoiled for choice and nobody's complaining. With a glowing 4.7 rating from over 900 customers, this place knows exactly what they're doing, and they're doing it all. Let's start with the spice game because they're not messing around. Tandoori starters that sizzle, biryanis that'll make you forget everything else, korma dishes that hit creamy and rich just right, and kebabs that make weeknights feel like celebrations. But here's the twist – they're also serving up pizzas, burgers, and fresh seafood because why should you have to choose between cuisines when you can have them all? The hours are properly convenient – opening from 4pm Monday to Thursday until 11:20pm, stretching to midnight on Friday and Saturday nights (because weekends need more eating time, obviously), and back to 11:20pm on Sundays. Whether you're picking up your order or getting it delivered straight to your door, they're sorting you out. Located at 89B Main Street, Cafe India is the kind of place where "what's for dinner" stops being a question and becomes an exciting problem of too many good options. Ring them on 0141 620 2020, download their app for exclusive discounts, or just order online and let the feast commence. With curry, cafe classics, and fresh seafood all on the same menu, your only real decision is what to order first. And then what to order next.

The food at this Cafe India location receives positive feedback when quality standards are met, with dishes consistently described as simply awesome, delicious, succulent, really nice, beautiful, and just as good as the service. The restaurant offers Indian food, pizza, and other options, and specific dishes receive particular acclaim. The South Indian garlic chilli chicken is described as the star of the dinner, featuring succulent chicken tikka pieces with a rich tangy spiced sauce that was not overpowering, you could taste the chicken yet it was a hot chilli sauce. The spicy chicken pizza is described as simply awesome, with plenty chicken on a generous portion of cheese in the well cooked pizza, and it was delicious. The lamb buhna is described as really nice as usual and beautiful as usual. The nan bread is described as simply awesome. The food quality is such that reviewers note the food was just as good as the service, and they travel quite a distance just to go to Thornliebank as usually the food is amazing. However, there have been quality consistency concerns reported, with food described as very disappointing, very hot, hardly any chicken, not pleasant at all, like jerky, inedible, stale, bone dry, not salted, very soggy, and not a chilli burger. The chicken pakora has been described as like jerky and inedible, the pappadums have been described as stale, and the chips have been described as very soggy and bone dry, not salted. The food quality concerns are such that one reviewer noted they've been going here for years and they were sorely disappointed, and it was a waste of £40, and it all went in the bin apart from the buhna which was beautiful as usual. Another reviewer noted they used to be absolutely sound for food, but it's been getting worse, and tonight is the last straw, suggesting quality decline.

Read on Google MapsI've been going here for years + I'm sorry to say I was sorely disappointed last night in some of the food ordered I got the D menu + although my lamb buhna was really nice (as usual) The other 2 curries were so disappointing. Chicken Tikka curry was very hot, hardly any chicken + just wasn't pleasant at all My boys are autistic (they always have this option & have done for about 10 years + never complained EVER!) They wouldn't eat it at all The chicken pakora was like jerky + inedible Even the pappadums were stale I'm so disappointed as it's almost impossible to get another curry that my boys enjoy....what happened????? I travel quite a distance just to go to Thornliebank as usually the food is amazing The staff as per usual are lovely + polite/helpful/respectful Unfortunately it was just a waste of £40 It all went in the nin apart from my buhna which was beautiful as usual 😞
Read on Google MapsClean and tidy shop with very pleasant staff. Food, spicy chicken pizza, South Indian garlic chilli chicken and a nan bread, were all simply awesome. Plenty chicken on a generous portion of cheese in the well cooked pizza was delicious. Now the star of the dinner was the South Indian garlic chilli chicken. Succulent chicken tikka pieces with a rich tangy spiced sauce that was not overpowering, you could taste the chicken yet it was a hot chilli sauce. Well done, to all, for a delicious Friday night meal.
Read on Google MapsUsed to be absolutely sound for food. Been getting worse to be honest and tonight is the last straw. Ordered the cheese burger meal as I usually do 90% of the time. No salad or sauce on the burger, bone dry. Chips bone dry, not salted. Can of Irn Bru in the bag (without asking what can I want, always get the Coke but heyho) bridges burnt I’ll not be back.
