What People Are Saying

Peking House offers Chinese takeaway, receiving mixed reviews that reflect both strengths when quality standards are met and concerns about order accuracy and customer service. The restaurant has been described as best Chinese ever and always consistently good when operating well, though order accuracy and customer service issues have been raised by some reviewers.

The food at Peking House receives outstanding reviews, with dishes consistently described as best Chinese ever, always consistently good, amazing, best satay sauce ever, and cooked to perfection. The restaurant offers a variety of options, and specific dishes receive particular acclaim. The chicken satay is described as amazing, with the sauce described as amazing and best satay sauce ever. The chicken fried rice (extra sweet) receives particular praise, described as best Chinese ever, and the sweet and savory together is so nice. The thin noodles are described as cooked to perfection. The food quality is such that reviewers note they travel 20 mins to get this one as it's always consistently good, and they have tried many Chinese but this is the best. The food is described as best Chinese ever, and everyone was impressed with not a single complaint.

Service at Peking House receives mixed feedback. When service is good, reviewers note the owners care about their customers, and the restaurant offers a loyalty card where you can collect stickers and earn rewards, described as such a great touch. However, there have been significant customer service issues reported, with reviewers describing how order problems were handled as really disappointed and completely ridiculous. One reviewer noted they've been going to this takeaway for years and have always enjoyed the food, but sadly tonight's experience has really let them down. When they called about missing satay sauces, they were told they could come back and pick it up, but there was a weather warning in place and it's not safe or reasonable to expect customers to drive back out for a mistake that wasn't theirs. They then said if the customer brought the food back, they'd give them a whole replacement order, which the reviewer noted makes no sense. The reviewer asked if they could just get a replacement order next weekend instead, but they said no and that the original order was required back tonight. The reviewer noted they don't understand the logic, and they're really disappointed with how this was handled, especially as a long-time regular. The service issues are such that reviewers note mistakes happen, but how you deal with them makes all the difference, and they won't be back.

Order accuracy has been a concern, with multiple reports of missing items. Two reviewers noted they forgot two satay sauces for two meals, and when they called, the restaurant's response was unsatisfactory, particularly given weather warnings and the distance customers had to travel.

Delivery service receives positive feedback, with one reviewer noting quick delivery even with a storm, contributing to convenience and satisfaction.

There have been pricing consistency concerns, with one reviewer noting they won't consistently get the same price, and the same order ranges from £16 to nearly £20. The reviewer noted whenever they question this they're told that they charge an extra pound for making the rice sweet, which is ridiculous. They also charge about the same each for adding a few peppers and onions to the rice, and the reviewer noted you can't even see or taste them there's so little in there, so it does seem like they're sometimes being a bit petty with that stuff. However, the reviewer noted it's still worth it though.

The restaurant's atmosphere receives positive feedback, with reviewers describing it as lovely atmosphere, and noting that as it was busy, customers were chatting to each other too, contributing to positive experiences.

For visitors to Glasgow, Peking House offers Chinese takeaway that can be best Chinese ever and always consistently good when quality standards are met. The restaurant's ability to deliver best Chinese ever, amazing food, and quick delivery has earned it positive recommendations from many reviewers. However, there have been concerns raised about order accuracy (including missing satay sauces), customer service (including unsatisfactory handling of order problems), and pricing consistency. The combination of generally excellent food when quality is consistent, but order accuracy and customer service concerns, makes it a mixed experience, and the restaurant would benefit from addressing order accuracy, improving customer service response to problems, and ensuring pricing consistency to ensure all guests have positive experiences.

Came here last night — the place was really busy, but I didn’t have to wait long (and honestly, it would’ve been worth it even if I had!). Lovely atmosphere; as it was busy, customers were chatting to each other too - was great to see! It was for family and friends, and everyone was impressed — not a single complaint! Love that they even have a loyalty card where you can collect stickers and earn rewards — such a great touch, and you can really tell the owners care about their customers. Thanks again — as always, I’ll be back!

Drove 20 minutes to collect an order from here tonight in bad weather then persevered with another 20 minute drive to North Ayrshire with the food to find on arrival that chicken satay sauce for two meals was missing. One of our party called and they suggested I drive back with the wrongly packaged food to then get a replacement ..... A round trip journey of at least 45 minutes due to the severe weather warning. We asked if they could give us a credit towards our next meal as chicken satay without the satay sauce defeats the purpose so we ended up eating pieces of chicken with rice instead of going hungry. It's completely ridiculous to expect someone to drive through a storm to get the order collercted during Storm Amy and not working towards a win win for regular long standing customers. A credit of some kind would have been an excellent proper solution

I’ve been going to this takeaway for years and have always enjoyed the food, but sadly tonight’s experience has really let me down. I ordered food this evening and they forgot two satay sauces for two meals. When I called, I was told I could come back and pick it up — which normally I might have done, but there’s a weather warning in place and it’s not safe or reasonable to expect customers to drive back out for a mistake that wasn’t theirs. They then said if I brought the food back, they’d give me a whole replacement order — which makes no sense. What are they going to do with returned food? I told them I wasn’t prepared to drive back due to the weather warning and the fact I live 20 minutes away. I asked if I could just get a replacement order next weekend instead, but they said no and that the original order was required back tonight. I don’t understand the logic — what’s the difference between giving me a new order tonight or next weekend? Either way, it would be a gesture to make up for their mistake and what were they planning to do with the food I returned? Give it to another customer? Really disappointed with how this was handled, especially as a long-time regular. Mistakes happen, but how you deal with them makes all the difference. I won’t be back.

Best chinese ever! Get the chicken fried rice ask for it extra sweet, with peppers and onions with a portion of chips and tub of curry sauce (or a chicken / beef curry) - the sweet and savory together is so nice. Have tried many Chinese but I travel 20mins to get this one as its always consistently good. Beware though, you won't consistently get the same price. I ordered the same thing and it ranges from £16-nearly £20. Whenever I question this I'm told that they charge an extra pound for making the rice sweet which is ridiculous imo. They also charge about the same each for adding a few pepper and onions to the rice and tbh, you can't even see or taste them there's so little in there so does seem like they're sometimes being a bit petty with that stuff. It's still worth it though - even cut the peppers n onions out to save a few quid coz they don't actually make any difference to the flavour in any way.
