Overview

Ambala Restaurant at 11 Forth Street in Glasgow – because when a family-run restaurant has been operating since 1984 and still gets 4.3 stars from over 1,200 reviews, you know they're doing something absolutely legendary. Established 40 years ago, Ambala has become one of Glasgow's most beloved spots for authentic Pakistani and Indian cuisine, and frankly, they've earned every single star. Here's what makes Ambala special: they're not messing around with this whole "freshly cooked from raw meat to perfection" thing. They're specialists in Lahori Chaska Karahi (which sounds incredible), Mixed Grill (because sometimes you need ALL the grilled meats), and house-made Kulfi Falooda (because proper desserts matter). Their menu reads like a love letter to Pakistani and Indian cuisine – from Spiced Onions and Crispy Pappodams to traditional curries like Kaleji Masala and Paya, plus biryanis that probably make your nan jealous (Chicken, Lamb, Keema, or Mixed Vegetable – take your pick). The recipe for their success? "Mouth-watering food and lively atmosphere are close friends." When you visit on any given evening, you'll hear friends laughing, glasses clinking, and grilled food sizzling – which is basically the sound of a restaurant doing everything right. Operating seven days a week from 12pm to midnight (because lunch AND dinner need quality), they're open whenever you are. Call 0141 2581120 for reservations or order online. They even have an app (search "Ambala Restaurant" – they're with the times). With 1,240 happy reviewers, they're clearly bringing the authentic taste of Pakistan to Glasgow.

Ambala Glasgow is absolutely fantastic! I tried their kobeda with naan bread and it was just amazing — full of flavour, perfectly cooked, and so juicy. The naan was soft and fresh, the perfect match for the kobeda. The portion size was generous, the taste was authentic, and the quality was top class. Easily one of the best meals I’ve had in Glasgow. I’ll definitely be going back for more!

Well prepared food. Deliver in good time. Good value . I was pleasantly surprised by the sheekh kebabs served on a sizzling hot plate of vegetables.
