Cheap date restaurants in Glasgow

Glasgow date nights that will not empty your account: Paesano, Ranjit's, Banh Mi & Tea, Dakhin lunch, Mono, Malaga Tapas, The 78, and Bread Meats Bread.

A cheap date in Glasgow still needs a table that feels like a night out. You want food you both actually want, a room that is not a strip-light canteen, and a bill you can split without doing maths under the table.

These picks stay in the inexpensive-to-moderate band on our listings. Weekday lunch is often the sweet spot (Dakhin especially). Weekend pizza queues are part of the deal at Paesano. Check hours before you promise a time.

Paesano Pizza

City centre (Miller Street) · 94 Miller Street, G1 1DT · Pizzas usually under £12 · 4.7 from 8,193 Google reviews

Interior and pizza counter at Paesano Pizza

The default cheap date when someone says pizza. Neapolitan dough, short menu, and a queue that looks worse than it is once you are inside. No bookings. Go early or accept a wait with a drink. West End and Southside branches exist if Miller Street is slammed. Order one pizza each and stop there unless you are starving.

Ranjit's Kitchen

Shawlands · 607 Pollokshaws Road, G41 2QG · Inexpensive · vegetarian · 4.7 from 1,179 Google reviews

Vegetarian Punjabi cooking on Pollokshaws Road with portions that make sharing easy. Thali plates and stuffed parathas come up constantly in reviews. It feels like a proper dinner without the Finnieston wine-list pressure. Walk over to Queen's Park after if the weather holds. Busy at peak weekend times; midweek is calmer.

Banh Mi & Tea

Partick · 340 Dumbarton Road, G11 · Inexpensive · 4.8 from 442 Google reviews

Vietnamese sandwiches, rice plates, and bubble tea on Dumbarton Road. Good when you want something lighter than a two-course sit-down and still want a place with a queue of regulars. Grab a table if you can, or take the bag to the river. Easy Partick meet-up before a film or a walk toward Byres Road.

Dakhin

Merchant City · 89 Candleriggs, G1 1NP · Weekday lunch deals often mid-teens · 4.5 from 1,200 Google reviews

South Indian upstairs on Candleriggs. Dosas and the weekday lunch route (thali or dosa set) are how you keep the bill sensible. Evening a la carte climbs. Nut-free and gluten-free menus help if either of you has allergies. Book if you can; the rating has made lunch busy too.

If you want a drink with the food

Mono

Merchant City / King Street · 12 King Street, G1 5RB · Moderate · fully vegan · 4.5 from 1,748 Google reviews

Cafe, bar, and gig venue under the same roof as Monorail. Fully vegan menu, local beer, and portions reviewers call large. Music can get loud; that is half the point. HappyCow still ranks it near the top of the city. Share plates and a couple of pints stay cheaper than a tasting-menu night.

The 78

Finnieston · 10-14 Kelvinhaugh Street, G3 8NU · Moderate · vegan pub food · 4.5 from 1,157 Google reviews

Vegan Mexican plates and craft beer in a Finnieston pub room. Useful when one of you wants to stay near Argyle Street without booking Unalome. Nachos, burritos, and a pint keep the evening simple. It gets loud on Friday; go earlier if you want to talk.

Malaga Tapas

Southside (St Andrews Road) · 213-215 St Andrews Road, G41 1PD · Share plates · you control the spend · 4.6 from 680 Google reviews

Spanish tapas where ordering three or four dishes between two people is normal. Stop when the bill looks right. Reviewers like the patatas and the unfussy room. There is a West End branch too if you are already near Byres Road. Better than a fixed two-course set when appetites do not match.

Bread Meats Bread

City centre (St Vincent Street) · 65 St Vincent Street, G2 5TF · Burgers · one each is enough · 4.6 from 3,561 Google reviews

The burger place people still name first. One burger and fries each, maybe a milkshake if you are leaning into it. Not the cheapest line on this list, but it is a clear date format: sit down, eat something messy, leave before the bill turns into a steakhouse. Other branches exist; St Vincent Street is the city-centre default.

How to keep the bill down

Skip the midweek "market menu" FOMO at rooms that still push wine pairings. Lunch at Dakhin, pizza at Paesano, or tapas you stop ordering when you are full will beat a discounted tasting menu that still needs a taxi home. Walk between Merchant City stops if the weather is kind. Check our menu pages before you go when we have them; prices on the door change.
