I’d had my eye on dakhin for a while. The massive dosa was calling my name, so I finally went to check it out. It’s a fully nut and gluten free menu - Here’s what we ordered: • Starter platter, £18 • Koli Dosa, £20 • Poondu Koli, £17 • Mysore Chilli Koli, £17 • Coconut Rice, £5 • Jasmine Rice, £4.50 The curries were the stars – plenty of chicken and great flavour. The rice was standard, didn’t get much of those flavours coming through and I think I expected the dosa to be massive, like the size of the table (maybe I picked the wrong one?) The starters were decent. A nice mix of things to try. If you go, the set menus look like better value than ordering a few different things – around £30–45pp, which is about what we spent anyway. I always find that it’s better that way at an Indian restaurant. Follow me on insta for more reviews: @Lewishere_lewisthere

Tremendous nut-free Indian food in the Merchant City. Located on the first floor in a really nice open loft space with views out over the City Halls. It's just so great to be able to have confidence in the fact that they have no nuts, and the curries were absolutely delicious. I'm knocking off one star only because I do wish the menu had a naan bread - that was missed. Otherwise, highly recommend for location, food, and service.

We had an amazing vegetarian dinner here. We ordered the thosai tattu (combo plate), plain dosa, keerai kootu (side) and the Kai korma. The appams with the korma were a great combo. My favorite was the keerai kootu and loved it with the dosa. Delicious meal that left us feeling full and happy!!!

Would be very hard to top this place for authentic south Indian cuisine. I had erachi mappas (lamb chops simmered in tomatoes, onion, and coconut milk). Mildly spicy and full of flavour. Beautiful lean and tender lamb. My wife had korma kai, a veggie korma - best ever she said. My brother in law thoroughly enjoyed the mamsam biryani. The service was top class, relaxed ambience, Kingfisher on draught, fab evening. And very reasonably priced too.

Strangely, I have developed an allergy to ginger. This has meant that for the past year, Indian food, which I love, has been largely off limits. I came here with my partner as she loves Indian food and in passing, I asked if anything on the menu might be suitable, not hopeful. The owner walked to the kitchen and had a conversation with the chef. When he returned he informed me that the chef would be willing to make anything on the menu without ginger. I was blown away. I chose my favourite curry and not long later I was eating a cuisine I had not had in over a year. The service is incredible and more than that, it is clear that everything is made fresh to order. I can’t recommend this place enough.
