The Dhabba has occupied 44 Candleriggs since 2002, bringing North Indian and Punjabi cooking — the roadside “dhabba” spirit — to Merchant City. The kitchen is 100% nut-free (no nuts, peanuts, sesame, mustard, celery, lupin or sulphites) and runs vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options alongside tandoori grills, curries, biryanis and street-food plates. Weekday lunch is a strong value play: OpenTable lists £11.95pp for three courses or a North Indian thali (Mon–Fri lunch, groups up to 8). Pre-theatre sits around £17.95pp for two courses in early evening slots. There is also an Indian afternoon tea. The food is understated, beautiful, and absolutely delicious! Generous portions and fairly priced! We had three lamb dishes, a chicken biryani, two butter chickens, and several starters. There wasn't a single miss!! A must go for anyone! Sad there won't be one when we get back to Canada!

Read on Google MapsWe visited last night and it was quite late but they accommodated us. Our waiter James was excellent (which I'd like to point out as it was his 1st shift). The food was superb. Are there cheaper restaurants in this area, yes no doubt, but if you want a decent authentic Indian meal, this is by far, one of the best Ive had. It was also just a stones throw away from our Hotel (Social Hub) . Very much recommend and very grateful that they allowed us to dine so close to closing time.
