Overview
The Anchor Line sits in the Grade A–listed former booking offices of the Anchor Line shipping company on St Vincent Place, designed around 1905–07 by James Miller with ocean-liner detailing. Mario Gizzi and Tony Conetta (The DRG / Di Maggio’s) bought the building in 2009, spent about £1.5m restoring it, and opened the restaurant and bar in 2014. Walls carry more than 200 original shipping posters, tickets and archive pieces from Glasgow University Archive Services. The kitchen leans classic city-centre: seafood and oysters, steaks, Sunday roast sirloin from noon, plus vegetarian, reduced-gluten/gluten-free and children’s menus. The bar runs from 11am; kitchen hours are noon–10pm Sunday–Thursday and noon–11pm Friday–Saturday. Closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day only among the usual holidays. Book ahead for Friday and Saturday; walk-ins are possible but harder then, and the diary is the real guide. Parties over 10 need the events team (Henderson Room up to 36, Donaldson up to 55, combined up to 95, or exclusive hire). Dress is smart/casual with no football colours. Dogs are not allowed in the restaurant.

Beautiful, lively, upscale atmosphere. Attentive but not overbearing service. Our farewell dinner for 2 in Glasgow, we were very happy with our choice. The food and drinks were delicious. I would definitely return. My husband had a steak which he loved. Cooked to perfection. I Good feelings all around.

Had the most wonderful lunch here for my birthday. We ordered chateaubriand with french fries, salad and macaroni cheese. Chateaubriand was just the most tender and delicious steak ever and I have had quite a few. Ordered medium rare and it was perfect! Everything was cooked to perfection and came very hot. The portion sizes were generous and the service was excellent. Highly recommend and I will return as the food is simply delicious!!!

1st visit to anchorline for a special occasion. Nice setting , staff were excellent. Decent range on the menu. Soup was superb as were the main courses. Prices in keeping with a posh city centre venue. £130 for 2 people with 2 courses and a couple of drinks

Staff were amazing! Young lady waiting on us had just started but she was very attentive and helpful. The fish and chips were delicious and recommended by the front desk staff at AC Hotel, Glasgow. A great experience overall!

I had an absolutely brilliant time during my recent visit! The food was top-notch, especially the soup of the day—great taste, quality, and definitely good value for money. The staff were super friendly and always checking to see if we needed anything, which made the atmosphere feel welcoming. Every aspect, from the drinks to the cleanliness, hit the mark perfectly. I can’t wait to come back for another meal!
