Overview

Scholars’ is City of Glasgow College’s licensed training restaurant on the ground floor of City Campus at 190 Cathedral Street — look for the modest sign on Cathedral Street, not the hilltop main entrance. Professional cookery and hospitality students cook and serve under lecturer supervision, so every lunch is a live classroom. Curriculum head Donna McGroarty’s programmes (HNC/HND hospitality and SVQ) use the room as the last stop before industry kitchens. Service runs to the college calendar. From 21 September 2026: lunch Monday–Thursday, Friday afternoon tea instead of the lunch menu. Set menus rotate by block — for example 20 October–20 November 2026 a three-course lunch is £16 (smoked haddock, spiced duck breast or leek ravioli, then desserts such as malt sponge or treacle tart); earlier autumn blocks also offer a five-course option at £20. Christmas lunch (three courses plus coffee and mince pies) is £27.50, Monday–Thursday 30 November–17 December 2026, with a £12.50pp deposit via email only. Glasgow Live’s March 2025 brasserie visit put three courses around £12 and praised sea bass, cocktails and student service. Book ahead on Dish Cult / ResDiary or email scholars@cityofglasgowcollege.ac.uk. Queen Street Station is a few minutes’ walk; Buchanan Street Subway about 8–10 minutes.

That’s a great restaurant. The menu is interesting and changes over time, and the food is delicious. People working there are students and they’re doing a great job. They catered for my gluten free options and I had a great time. It’s also cheap but amazing quality

A group of us lunched here today with a friend who is a student at the college. Beautifully prepared food impeccably served by two fastidious, attentive young men. Lovely atmosphere including a wee speech from a faculty member reminding us that the restaurant is a learning facility and the staff are all college students working towards their qualifications. I will definitely return, this was an excellent dining experience.

Vetrans group gathering , all chefs . Very impressed with the standards of food and service from the college students. Brought back memories of my time in college. If you're in Glasgow and have time pop in to see if there is a table, you won't regret it .

Three very happy customers. Yummy tasting menu of chicken, fish and sides. (Not so keen on pork dish). Desserts to die for. Not a big menu but great value for high end food experience. Well done Scholars’ students😍😍. We’ll be back!

My favourite plate from the lunch menu was definitely the pasta, which had a really light with a basil aroma. Also, I loved the Truffle and parmesan chips, which is the perfect for a side dish. While this is a training school, the standard was really high.
