O Sole Mio presents itself as Glasgow’s oldest Italian restaurant. It opened in 1965 at the corner of Bath Street and West Nile Street — long credited with bringing wood-fired pizza to the city — and was run for decades by the Romano family. Djamel Benouari bought the business in January 2011. The original building closed on 6 February 2020 ahead of a hotel development; Benouari later reopened at 22 Bath Street after a full refurb, with many original staff returning. Expect a classic Italian trattoria menu: hand-stretched Neapolitan-style pizzas, pasta cooked to order, risotto, veal and chicken Milanese-style dishes, seafood and Italian wines. A September 2026 menu listing shows lunch at £13.95 for one course or £18.95 for two, a pre-theatre menu at £22.95 for two courses, pizzas roughly £13.50–£18.95 and meat or fish mains around £22–£28. There is a kids’ menu (£7.95) and an outdoor patio when the weather allows. Official hours are Sunday–Thursday 12pm–9pm and Friday–Saturday 12pm–10pm. Reviewers and the venue itself pitch it for theatre and concert nights (near Buchanan Galleries and the Royal Concert Hall), friendly regulars’ service and a broad menu spanning pizza to steak.
We had a lovely meal at Sole Mio at lunchtime on a Thursday. It was quite busy so I would suggest booking in advance. The food was excellent and service was great. The atmosphere in was nice and the decor trendy. We would go back here for sure.

Read on Google MapsAlthough I have not been fortunate enough to dine at this restaurant, I have been to visit this establishment on three different occasions with my friends and the food looks amazing! On my past visits we have only had time for drinks and I must say the Customer Service has always been first class not to mention the Prosecco! Served chilled to perfection in frosted glasses with a raspberry. Very enjoyable on a lovely sunny afternoon visit to Glasgow. We were speaking to the Manager when we were in last time and he seemed very nice and we are definitely going to book for lunch/dinner when next in Glasgow. A special mention for Colleen who remembered our drinks order from previous visits. She is always smiling and friendly and a very enthusiastic member of staff. A very welcoming place to go and cannot wait to we return.
Read on Google MapsCame here with my partner was a bit dissapointed as i ordered the pasta and chips when they came both especially the chips were quite hard , i also ordered prawns for starter which came out 3 tiny prawns costing £10 which were not warm , the manager asked why we didnt eat our chips or pasta we said it was a bit hard he then tasted it and said crunchy was a bit shocked as after that still charged for the chips even though he helped himself disappointing the garlic bread was nice only positive i can give
