Glasgow restaurant
Mezcal is a Mexican taqueria and bar at 104 Hope Street, seconds from Glasgow Central Station. It opened in September 2019 from Kevin Campbell and Toni Carbajosa (also behind Halloumi, Bibimbap and Rioja) with publican Ryan Bowman. The kitchen cooks guac and salsa from scratch daily and says it has Mexican chefs on the team. The Scotsman noted that the opening menu was designed with chef and food consultant Adriana Cavita. Food is Mexico City street-food inspired: tacos, tostadas, nachos, ceviche and sharing plates. A current deal puts some popular tacos at £4 each, including pork leg, chicken tinga, spinach and garlic, and a vegan option, all on soft corn tortillas. Lunch runs Monday to Friday, noon to 4pm. The bar is known for margaritas and what the restaurant calls Scotland's widest selection of mezcals; early coverage also mentioned more than 25 tequilas. Walk-ins are welcome, but the site now recommends reserving. There is a second Mezcal at Glasgow Fort Shopping Centre, plus a taco truck for events. Open from noon daily.

mezcalglasgow's Paloma Menu, "The Lost Explorer", featuring signature Palomas combining mezcal smoke and citrus, is now available throughout August. The curated selection includes three distinct cocktails with unique rim decorations (pineapple, mint leaf, and chili pepper) and a complementary food special.
This is my second time there! First time was with my colleagues as we were organising a work-related casual dinner. This time I brought my family there. Very convenient location, just a few minutes walk from Glasgow Central station. The food was very tasty and staff is very friendly. It is quite busy at dinner time so better book a table in advance!

For drinks we ordered the standard margarita and peach margarita which were lovely but a tad smaller than other places we have been to. Service let this place down, after our order was taken by a lad who never returned (possibly finished work as never saw him again) we weren't asked if the food was ok or if there was anything we needed until we had finished our food and were ready to pay the bill.
Read on Google MapsSuch an incredible spot for delicious Mexican food! The service was fantastic, such a warm and welcoming environment! For starters, we got the calamari and pico de gayo tortillas! Then mains were beef taquitos, king prawn tacos, duck tacos and pork shoulder tacos! We split these among 3 of us and it was the perfect amount! Would highly recommend!!
