Overview

Hugh's Restaurant at 270 Stonelaw Road in Rutherglen – because when somewhere opens its doors in 2023 and already has a solid 4.3-star rating from 235 reviews, you know they're doing something seriously special. Hugh's is "where culinary excellence meets passion for food" and honestly, with over 200 happy customers giving them high marks, they're clearly not messing around with that excellence thing. Here's what makes Hugh's special: they started as "a small family venture" with "a simple love for cooking and a desire to bring exquisite flavors to the heart of Burnside" (though technically they're in Rutherglen, but close enough – we'll let that slide). Their "team of experienced chefs takes pride in using locally sourced, fresh ingredients to create a symphony of flavours" because apparently regular delicious food wasn't challenging enough. They serve breakfast (8am-5pm Monday-Saturday, 9am-5pm Sunday), main meals, and drinks, plus they've got gift vouchers because apparently people love eating here so much they want to share it. Located at 270 Stonelaw Road in Rutherglen, Hugh's is "a place where friends and families come together to share a memorable meal, laughter, and stories." Their "cozy atmosphere and friendly staff create an inviting space" and they're infusing their menu "with the essence of this vibrant city." They mention their "best-selling spicy chicken" as a local favourite, plus "international delights" on a menu that "celebrates the diverse and dynamic culinary heritage." Open 8am-5pm daily, they're doing that whole "culinary journey filled with flavour, tradition, and the warmth of Glaswegian hospitality" thing.

This is the first time my wife and I have visited this place. We visited as we where given a voucher as a gift, other wise we wouldn't have known about this place. I honestly cannot fault this place. The interior is beautiful, the staff are very nice and attentive and it's very reasonably priced. Value for money. The food was so good. I got the bang bang prawns and Scottish stack. My wife got the schnitzel chicken and loved that to. We both can't wait to go back.

Very welcoming staff are lovely. We had breakfast stack which was lovely, however we both Struggled to cut through the food with the normal knife. Was a bit scared of food flying off plate and hitting someone, had to take the stack apart to make it easier but knife struggle to cut through the muffin. Will ask for steak knife next time.
