Overview

Turkiye EFES opened on Candleriggs in Merchant City in 2019, founded by Serkan Aydin, a former Istanbul hotelier who wanted proper Turkish grill food in Glasgow. Dish Cult notes an International Dining Award for Best Turkish Restaurant and a kitchen of Turkish chefs turning out charcoal-grilled kebabs, meze, pide and fish. Signature plates include lamb shish, mixed grills (Turkiye Mix), içli köfte and sea bass, plus hot and cold meze and a kids’ menu. Sunday Turkish brunch and Saturday belly dancing are part of the pitch. Halal-focused listings treat it as a certified-style Turkish grill. Book ahead; parties of five or more need a deposit deducted from the bill. Kitchen last orders 9:45pm Sun–Thu and 10:15pm Fri–Sat even though the bar stays later. St Enoch / Buchanan Street subway and High Street station cover Merchant City access.

First time here, got the restaurant manager to help us make our order and his recommendation was fantastic. Good value, plenty of food on the plate, super tasty barbecue and fresh food all round. 10/10 would recommend 🥰

Sept 25: Fantastic find on a very wet September evening in Glasgow. Despite being a Monday night this place was packed and we were lucky to get a table. Food was incredible, portions huge

What a wonderful surprise in the heart of Merchant City! I'm a huge fan of Turkiye and Turkish food, and stepping into this place is just like being transported abroad in the best way. The service is characteristically warm and friendly in that way that all Turkish people are, the food is exceptional, the complimentary bread is delicious, and the portions are huge. Delighted - I'll be back!

Really great food and wine. Very attentive staff. Spent a nice 4 hour lunch there. Recommended. Pictures make it look empty but it wasn't and by the time we left it was completely full for the evening settings
