What People Are Saying
Smokey Trotters Kitchen has established itself as one of Glasgow's most celebrated comfort food destinations, consistently earning exceptional praise for its insanely amazing food, generous portions, and quirky atmosphere. The restaurant has been described as absolutely next level, out of this world, and highly recommended, with reviewers consistently awarding it high ratings and expressing their eagerness to return.
The food at Smokey Trotters receives outstanding reviews, with dishes consistently described as insanely amazing, out of this world, absolutely next level, absolutely delicious, and packed with flavour. The restaurant specializes in comfort food, and specific dishes receive particular acclaim. The truffle mozzarella sticks are described as great and made in house, while the Dirty Dipper and Chicken KFC burgers are described as absolutely delicious. The fried chicken on French toast is described as delightful, and the "Dip in Ma Nuts" featuring crispy chicken strips with a seriously tasty peanut dip receives exceptional praise. The Snobby Fries loaded with truffle, parmesan, and all the good stuff, and mozzarella sticks topped with sriracha honey and Cheetos crumb are described as absolutely next level. The chicken is described as thick and juicy and perfectly fried, and the sides are described as phenomenal. However, there have been some mixed feedback on specific items, with the Buffalo Chicken burger described as ok but not spicy enough (sauce too sweet, no acidity or kick), and the vegetarian Korean chickpea patty described as unfortunately quite dry.
The restaurant's atmosphere receives consistent praise, with reviewers describing it as very quirky with loads to look at, featuring great tunes playing in the background, super chill atmosphere, and a vibe that is spot on. The feel of the shop contributes significantly to the overall experience.
Service at Smokey Trotters is consistently praised as super friendly, really friendly, and polite. The staff receive positive feedback, though there have been some service timing issues reported, particularly during busy times. One reviewer noted waiting 20 minutes for their order to be taken and another 30 minutes for food to arrive on a Sunday lunch, suggesting the restaurant may struggle with service speed during peak periods. Additionally, when sitting outside, reviewers have noted having to pop in to get the waiter's attention, suggesting outdoor service could be improved.
Value perception is generally positive, with reviewers describing prices as surprisingly reasonable for the quality and amount you get, and portions as generous. However, one reviewer noted it's a bit on the expensive side, especially since fries are sold separately, suggesting pricing may be perceived differently by some customers.
For visitors to Glasgow, Smokey Trotters has become a destination that many feel is essential to experience, with reviewers highly recommending it and expressing their intention to return. The restaurant's ability to deliver insanely amazing food, generous portions, quirky atmosphere, and reasonable prices has earned it a loyal following. However, guests should be aware that service may be slower during busy times, and it may be worth avoiding peak periods if time is a concern. The combination of quality comfort food, great atmosphere, friendly service, and reasonable prices makes it a standout and highly recommended establishment in Glasgow's dining scene.

Came here yesterday and already want to come back again! Insanelyyyyyy amazing food! Staff were also super friendly. Couldn't recommend this place enough.
Read on Google MapsGreat choice for comfort food, but avoid at busy times. We arrived on a Sunday for lunch, and had to wait 20 minutes for our order to be taken, and another 30 for the food to arrive. Starters were great, I loved the truffle mozzarella sticks. You can tell they’re made in house! Buffalo Chicken burger was ok. Chicken was perfectly fried, but unfortunately it was not spicy at all. Sauce was very sweet, it had no acidity or kick like buffalo should. Brunch items were delightful, especially the fried chicken on french toast. Worth a try.
Read on Google MapsWe sat outside, which was nice, but the only downside was having to pop in to get the waiter's attention. That said, the staff were really friendly and polite. The Dirty Dipper and Chicken KFC burgers were absolutely delicious, though the vegetarian Korean chickpea patty was unfortunately quite dry. It's a bit on the expensive side, especially since fries are sold separately.
Read on Google MapsIf you have thought about going here but you keep putting it off like we did then make sure you visit because everything was amazing from start to finish. The feel of the shop is very quirky and there is loads to look at. The food was out of this world, chicken was so thick and juicy and sides were phenomenal, I would definitely recommend as we will be back soon to try more from the amazing menu. 🙌
Read on Google MapsSmokey Trotters Glasgow — Highly Recommended! Me and my mate were up from Manchester and had an amazing meal at Smokey Trotters and honestly, I can’t recommend it enough. I went all in with the “Dip in Ma Nuts”, crispy chicken strips with a seriously tasty peanut dip, plus Snobby Fries loaded with truffle, parmesan, and all the good stuff, we shared some mozzarella sticks topped with sriracha honey and a Cheetos crumb. It was absolutely next level. The food was packed with flavour, the portions were generous, and the whole vibe of the place was spot on. Great tunes playing in the background, super chill atmosphere, and surprisingly reasonable prices for the quality and amount you get. If you’re in Glasgow and want a proper feast without breaking the bank, you need to check out Smokey Trotters. Already planning my next visit… genuinely!
