Maki & Ramen on Renfield Street is the larger of the chain’s two Glasgow spots — about 100 covers in the former Cook & Indi’s corner unit at Renfield and Bath Street, opened in spring 2023. The brand started in Edinburgh in 2015 under founder Teddy Lee, who trained at a Tokyo sushi academy; broth is simmered for eight hours and noodles are made in-house. Expect a broad Japanese comfort menu: tonkotsu and other ramen bowls, sushi and maki, bao and sides, with vegan and halal-friendly options flagged (chicken is listed ashalal on their menus). Signature bowls include classic Tonkotsu and Black Garlic Tonkotsu; Deliveroo has named the brand Scotland’s Best Japanese Restaurant / a 2024 regional Restaurant Award winner. Teddy Lee and COO Michael Salvador also appeared on Come Dine With Me: The Professionals from the smaller Bath Street site. Book online via WalkUp (they hold about 40% of tables for reservations) or walk in — busy evenings fill up. Mon–Thu the kitchen closes 3–5pm between lunch and dinner; Fri–Sat runs through to 11pm. Buchanan Street subway and Queen Street station are a short walk; Q-Park Bath Street and NCP Mitchell Street are the nearby car parks they point to.
I love the big drum that gets hit when you walk in. decor is very inviting and cosy with lovely lanterns and cherry blossoms around the ceiling. staff are super friendly and always happy to help. always recommend this amazing ramen restaurant ☺️to all my family and friends

It’s so nice to go somewhere that has actually thought about serving a good variety of vegan choices. This is one of our favourite restaurants to go to in Scotland and we always bring friends here when they’re visiting! Specific shout out to the manager Kate for being awesome!! Please please bring back the bao buns though! 😭❤️
Read on Google MapsWe went for lunch for the first time and it was just amazing! The staff was lovely, the service was amazing and the food was delicious! My son spilled his orange juice and the gentleman that looked like a manager came straight away, cleaned the table and brought him a new juice. We will be back.
Read on Google MapsI went here with my bf and friend about a week or so ago. The atmosphere as you enter is beautiful. They really went all out with the decor. The food was average, not amazing not horrible. BUT my friend never got his miso soup even though we asked nicely a few times. The staff seemed a bit lost and disorganized. Maybe better training is needed.
Read on Google MapsI’ve not experienced a lot of ramen restaurants so not much to compare it too. But found the service excellent, speedy and pleasant. The food came super quick, I mean within a few minutes it felt like. The tempura prawns were nice, a nice batter. Didn’t taste of a lot and the dipping sauce didn’t either, preferred it with the soy sauce. The beef in the ramen was nice and tender and the sauce was lovely and spicy after asking for a spicier broth.
