Overview
Madha on Albion Street – where North and South India collide under one roof, and honestly, Glasgow needed this. As the first restaurant in Scotland to offer both North and South Indian cuisine together, they're doing something properly special. With a strong 4.5 rating, this family-owned spot is serving authentic, undoubtedly Indian food that'll make you realize you've been missing out. Undoubtedly and authentically Indian – that's their thing, and they're not messing around. They're offering traditional dishes of exceptional quality, using only the finest ingredients, herbs and spices because shortcuts don't fly in authentic Indian cuisine. A family-owned restaurant where the food is an experience to be relished, not just consumed. They're open Monday through Saturday from 12:30pm until 11pm (giving you plenty of time to satisfy those lunch and dinner cravings), offering both dine-in and takeaway. Here's the kicker – they're offering 10-20% off takeaways when you order directly with the restaurant (10% off minimum order of £20, 20% off minimum order of £40) – just ring them on 0141 552 6000. Located at 42 Albion Street (G1 1LH), they're celebrating South Indian festivals like Onam and Vishu every year, offering gift vouchers for graduations, birthdays, or weddings, and serving up the varied flavours that make Indian cuisine so incredible. This is proper Indian food done authentically – no fusion nonsense, just traditional excellence. Email them at info@madha.co.uk or call to experience the difference.
Reviews
Had dinner at Madha tonight and it was absolutely brilliant. The food was incredible, full of flavour, fresh, and perfectly spiced. The Nadan Addu Curry was outstanding, rich and beautifully balanced, and the dosa was massive and delicious. Joseph and Dipesh were so lovely and took great care of us all evening. Joseph gave excellent recommendations and made the whole experience even better. Can’t recommend this place enough if you’re after proper North and South Indian food in Glasgow. Can’t wait to go back.
Read on Google MapsI recently visited here and I must say, the experience was absolutely fantastic! From the delicious food to the warm atmosphere everything exceeded my expectations. The spices were well-balanced, and the presentation was appealing. What truly stood out was the excellent customer service and hospitality. The staff was attentive, friendly, and welcoming ,making us feel right at home. Their recommendations were spot-on, and they ensured we had a great dining experience.
Read on Google MapsIf you're looking for a dish that truly captures the essence of rich Indian cuisine, biryani is a must-try—and this one does not disappoint. From the moment the lid was lifted, the fragrant aroma of saffron, cardamom, and slow-cooked basmati rice filled the air, promising a meal worth remembering. The rice was perfectly fluffy, each grain separate and infused with deep, layered spices. The meat—tender, juicy, and well-marinated—fell apart effortlessly, having absorbed all the flavors from the long, slow cooking process. The balance of heat and warmth from the spices was spot on, neither overpowering nor bland. A side of raita added a cooling contrast that rounded out the meal beautifully. What sets this biryani apart is the attention to detail—the freshness of the herbs, the perfect texture of the rice, and the harmonious blend of spices. It's a true celebration of tradition and taste. Highly recommended for any biryani lover or anyone looking to experience an authentic and satisfying meal. Chef Mithun has worked his magic — a symphony of flavors, passion on a plate, and pure culinary brilliance!
Read on Google MapsWow !! What can I say this has to be the best genuine Indian food I have ever tasted . I took another 8 friends along for a celebration meal as I liked the look of the menu and the vegan / veggie options . Even before we walked in the door was opened and the staff knew who we were and greeted me by name . We were catered for and looked after to a very high standard by the owner Joseph and the rest of the staff , nothing was too much of a problem and they even catered for our spiced onion request although they were not in the menu . I will defo be making a point of going back with my partner and I would highly recommend the restaurant 11/10 guys . Thank you for your hospitality
Read on Google MapsCame through Glasgow for the day and stumbled across this restaurant thanks to the great reviews. We were welcomed with such warmth and genuine pride in the food — the staff explained that they were currently serving the Onasadhya, a traditional feast, between Sept 3rd - 6th, which we ended up ordering. The food was served with enthusiasm and the staff encouraged us to savour every part, even offering more of whatever we enjoyed most. The meal, beautifully presented on a banana leaf with many little dishes, was not only delicious but also felt like being invited into a cultural celebration. We were served a vegan and a vegetarian version, the staff paying careful attention that only vegan friendly options were served to my vegan friend. We were greeted by various delicious flavours, textures and spice levels and savoured every bite. What stood out most was the friendliness, attentiveness and kindness of the team, which turned dinner into a truly memorable experience. Left feeling grateful, smiling, and enriched — highly recommend (even if the Onasadhya is a limited-time offering, the hospitality and passion behind it will shine through in any visit).
