Kinara is an Indian restaurant at 10 King Street, Glasgow G1 5QP, on the Merchant City edge (off Argyle Street / Trongate), phone 0141 237 0810, email info@kinara.co.uk, site kinara.co.uk. It occupies the former Cafe Cossachok unit. Glasgow Live (28 May 2024) reported it opening to the public after a delayed January plan, citing kitchen-extraction problems; a June 2025 Glasgow Live revisit said it had opened in the middle of 2024. Executive chef is Shabu Natarajan, with business partner Altaf Hossain; both are the team behind Madras Cafe (Glasgow Times and Glasgow Live). The name, per Glasgow Live and Scottish Field, means “river banks” and “cutting edge” in Hindi. Official hours are Sunday–Thursday 12:00–21:30 and Friday–Saturday 12:00–22:00. Current site offers: two-course lunch £14.95 (Mon–Fri 12:00–15:00) and two-course pre-theatre £19.95 (Mon–Fri 15:00–18:00; Sat–Sun 12:00–17:00). Menu sections cover chaat/street food, tandoori, Dum Pukht, regional curries and a large vegetarian/paneer range; dishes repeatedly named in press include tandoori monkfish, Chicken Makhni, Kashmiri lamb shank rogan josh and monkfish dum. Book via phone/email or discuss in person (contact page); OpenTable hosts a listing and menu but has also shown the venue as not on its live booking network. Street parking; Argyle Street rail station and St Enoch subway are a short walk. Scottish Field (Aug 2024) and Glasgow Live (Jun 2025) were strongly positive; Ron Mackenna in The Herald scored 21/30, praising monkfish dum and lamb chops while finding the food below the marketing claims.
Lovely atmosphere. Amazing food with extensive menu suitable for meat eaters, veggie/vegan and dairy free (and all very clearly labelled which was much appreciated). Friendly and attentive staff. Although we didn’t have one, we were very impressed with the cocktail menu - there was some very unique and interesting sounding cocktails. Also enjoyed the music. Will be back ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Read on Google MapsVisiting from the USA and this is the best Indian food we have ever had. Zein was a fantastic server. He gave us great suggestions and was so kind when he said he would switch the food out if we didn’t like it since he suggested it. But no need because we absolutely loved all of it! He even gave us a dessert for our anniversary. 10 out of 10 for food, service, and atmosphere. Will come again when visiting Glasgow.
Read on Google MapsI went here with a large group of friends. I've been here before, we liked it then so decided to go again. I had the samosa chaat, seafood kari, mushroom rice and deep fried anchovies. I've had the anchovies before and really loved that dish. However, the seafood kari was outstanding, I wasn't expecting that much prawn, mussels and squid in the dish, it was a massive portion. It was probably one of the best curries I've had and would definitely go back for that again.
Read on Google MapsWow! We went here as it was near our accommodation and had good reviews. Well it deserves the rating. The curries are very diverse and the roti was the best we have ever had. Get a side of the potatoes and have an IPA.
