ibis Styles Glasgow Centre George Square

We've just returned from a great stay at Ibis Styles Glasgow Centre. The location is spot on, less than 10 mins walk from Glasgow Central, less than 5 mins to Glasgow Queen Street and a 2 min walk to the shops! We were greeted with a very warm welcome at checkin, with a lovely touch of some Irn Bru and Tunnocks for being ALL members. The room was spotless, but was looking slightly worn. The paintwork definitely needs touching up. Only thing we didn't like about the room was the misted out window, not entirely sure why the window needed to be fully misted out - the view wouldn't have been the best, but it's still nice to be able to look out the window! There are plenty of Eco-Innitiatives the hotel has incorporated, the most fruitful being a free drink from the bar, when you don't have the room cleaned. Would definitely stay here again!
Read on Google MapsCarmen and Hannah were awesome staff members. Carmen assisted with a mistake I had made whilst booking via a Voucher. No drama from either lady. They were patient and understanding and fixed my issue. Rooms were small but clean and tidy and well suited for a short city break.
Read on Google MapsI stayed here after starting and barely getting halfway through the West Highland Way from October 2nd through the 6th (Storm Amy made it harder than I expected.) I took advantage of the bar (that’s open 24 hours somehow lol) and all the staff were great. Now here is where I shoot my shot. If your name is Giorgio from Northern Italy and introduced yourself to me on October 7th, 2025 when I went down to get my free glass of wine…..Hi. I’m sorry I didn’t ask for your number, but I promise I didn’t eat any Italian food when I went to Paris. Thank you for a very fun conversation. Hoping you see this but otherwise I will be exploring Italy next year at the tail end of summer. I hope you enjoyed the rest of Scotland on your holiday.
Read on Google MapsReally nice hotel. The rooms were really well laid out and the breeding comfortable. Enough plugs in the right place. USB chargers by the bed etc. I loved that there were so many little design points around that really played up the location, insisting the Tunnocks wrapper picture. Do note that when you're looking on Google maps, there is Ibis Styles Glasgow Central and Ibis Styles Glasgow Centre George Square, and the screen limit shows just the last letter different!! I went to the wrong hotel. Luckily only 12 minute walk apart, but they did say that happens a lot. Free tea and coffee from the machines in the cafe all day. Breakfast was ok, not 'great' but included in the price, so can't complain much as it was a really good price for central Glasgow.
Read on Google MapsI was SO utterly disappointed in my recent stay in Glasgow as the smell in the room was that of overwhelming cleaning products. So much so it took our breath away and made my friend physically sick. We called reception at almost 1am as we just couldn’t sleep and asked the night manager to come to the room to smell it. Bear in mind we were both in bed and dressed for bed . He agreed it was strong and did offer us another room to go inspect and see if we could smell it in that room. However he wanted us to pack up the full room at 1am and come to reception to hand in the key and collect a key for another room which had no guarantees that it wasn’t the same. Of course we said NO to that suggestion and asked could we not simply leave our belongings in the room given how late it was and we had to be up early for work for a 7.30 breakfast. He wouldn’t budge so we asked him to leave. We slept with the covers over our faces much to my disgust. We then spoke with a girl the next morning at breakfast who I believe was a manager also. Explained the full thing to her and all she could say was - you were offered a room change - yeah we were but with ludicrous conditions attached to it. O asked for this to be escalated and she said the overall manager would be in touch. Well guess what - no one has got in touch . Surprisingly . I am a travel business owner and my role is recommending and reviewing hotels for my clients. I would NOT recommend this hotel purely down to the management attitude and lack of empathy or professionalism displayed. No one cared. Such a shame as location is excellent for a city centre stay but to be fair rooms were adequate only - no better than a travel lodge. The view from our window was hidden due to opaque window and the window couldn’t open to try let the smell out. I would like to like this hotel but management let it down massively for me. I appreciate problems happen but it’s how you deal with the problems that makes you stand out from the crowd. Better management training is required. If windows don’t open chemical cleaning solutions also need it be reviewed as guests are breathing in chemicals. I asked for the room to be refunded or heavily discounted and I’ve heard nothing back in that regard.
