We booked a table at The House of Gods rooftop sanctuary garden planning to drink heavily, have a good time and fill up our tab. In the end we left after one drink and asked for the service charge to be removed from our bill. Why? First of all, the rooftop staff were exasperated at our arrival, while a waitress wordlessly led us to a mirrored table, cast two menus on it without eye contact, and kept on walking. Much to our surprise, we were seated between an emergency exit and an emergency situation - two clearly underage girls who should have been in their mammy’s house never mind one of the Gods. The fake ivy that smothered the walls felt effortful and did little to hide the tackiness of the B&M fairy lights, the garden furniture felt like some off-cast from a Rothesay hotel bankruptcy. How can a rooftop garden feel dark and dingy? Each of these aesthetic oversights could’ve been masked by choice lighting, however, the underground garage wall sconces illuminated the atrocities evermore and made us realise that whoever chose them, must use the ‘big light’ at home. The truly oxymoronic ambience of being simultaneously dingy yet blindingly stark left us dazed, confused and disappointed. But none of this was as miserable as the staff casually chatting and lounging across the bar. The waitress with a personality bypass, the general ambiance of a space managed by unwelcoming people, disgruntled and dissatisfied with their jobs. From the moment we had arrived we desired to leave, but as we had we had made a booking we felt compelled to stay. The music was a mish mash mix tape of has been hits and rightfully forgotten melodies, united only by their mediocrity. House of Gods? More like House of Dogs.

I had an absolutely amazing stay at the House of Gods Hotel in Glasgow. From the moment I arrived, the service was outstanding. John, in particular, went above and beyond to make my stay unforgettable. The room itself was incredible: stylish, comfortable, and filled with thoughtful touches that made the stay extra special. On top of that, the hotel’s location is perfect—right in the heart of Glasgow, central and easily accessible for exploring the city. An unforgettable experience from start to finish. I can’t recommend House of Gods enough!

For the price tag, I expected more. We recently went for my birthday and added on the treat me like I’m famous package - considering the price of the suite and the package, it felt a bit of a let down. We were told upon checking out that they could’ve validated our parking - would’ve been useful checking in and would’ve saved some money. The cocktail bar is lovely and the bed was comfortable. I get the vibe is to be dark but it would also be nice to be able to see to get ready. The TV was super quiet and the sound system was on max. Breakfast and views were nice but wouldn’t rush back. You can also very clearly hear people pottering in the hallway which was a bit annoying.

From the moment we arrived at House of Gods Glasgow, we were blown away. John and the amazing team couldn’t have been more welcoming…their attention to detail and genuine warmth made us feel instantly at home. The hotel itself is exceptional…stylish, cosy, and full of personality. Every corner feels thoughtfully designed, with a luxurious yet intimate vibe that’s completely different from anywhere else in Glasgow. From the beautiful interiors to the perfectly mixed cocktails, everything oozes quality and creativity. Our stay was flawless from start to finish. It’s rare to find a place that delivers such an experience… part boutique hotel, part indulgent escape. If you’re looking for somewhere truly special in Glasgow, House of Gods is it. We can’t wait to come back!
