Blackfriars of Bell Street is a Merchant City pub at 36 Bell Street, near the City Halls and Old Fruitmarket. The building has been a pub since 1991 (earlier names include Rockwells / Bell Geordie); it shut through lockdown and reopened in July 2022 under Andy McCartney — the same operator linked to The Duke’s Umbrella and Gōst — with a refreshed real-ale and events calendar. Food is currently in partnership with Nonna Said…: order Napoli-style pizza from the table tag to your seat rather than a full in-house kitchen menu. Expect cask and craft beer, pavement tables, live music, comedy and quizzes. CAMRA lists it noon–midnight daily with lunch and evening meals, dog-friendly, and a function room. Book a table via blackfriarsglasgow.co.uk/bookings or walk in. St Enoch subway is about five minutes’ walk; High Street and Queen Street stations are also close for Merchant City nights out.

Shane Todd, a comedian from Ireland, visited the Black Friars Pub Glasgow last night filming his new special. He also brought the comedy group William Thompson, who are selling tickets for their upcoming October tour stop at the pub.
I went here for their pub quiz which was great! Definitely recommend booking a table for the quiz a day in advance as it was fully booked when we arrived but kindly, they managed to fit us in. Staff are all lovely and the selection of drinks is good. Nice atmosphere
Read on Google MapsNot a patch on what it used to be, not even one real ale was on tap, all unavailable and this was on a Saturday lunchtime. Bar staff pleasant enough. Gents toilets door missing its handle so you had to stick your finger into the hole to pull the door open to get back out to bar. Poor.
Read on Google MapsAn excellent pub, especially when taking into consideration the staff. We had an event that needed setting up in the basement. One of the members of staff, Suzie, was incredibly helpful in getting us set up and ready for our event, she was also very accomodating for any req uests we had. I truly appreciate her efforts.
Read on Google MapsNice place,we went on a Sunday to see a comedian called Stuart Mitchell who was excellent,we then went to the bar and listened to live music, atmosphere was great although very busy which I suppose is a good thing. Drink was around £15 for a pint of lager and a glass of wine. Did take time to get served which was a little annoying
Read on Google MapsStaff working hard on a Saturday . Very busy . Music could have been a bit lower as everyone was having to shout ., but it's a good pub with plenty of quiz nights and music and something on most nights . Did not try food another vist Dec 2024 , staff working well
