Overview

Sub Rosa Pizza at Unit 34, 147 Drakemire Drive in Glasgow – because when somewhere describes themselves as "where every slice tells a story!" while serving Detroit & Neo-Neapolitan pizza, you know they're not messing around with either their pizza OR their philosophy. With an impressive 4.7-star rating from 49 reviews (and apparently they're so good that they only need 49 reviews to prove it), Sub Rosa is bringing serious pizza game to Glasgow. Here's what makes Sub Rosa special: they're "more than just a pizza place; we're a hub of creativity and flavor" which sounds ambitious until you remember that good pizza IS an art form. They're committed to quality, using "only the freshest ingredients to craft mouthwatering pizzas that surprise and delight" because apparently regular delicious pizza wasn't challenging enough. They blend "traditional techniques" with "innovation," making each pie "a testament to our passion for culinary artistry" which is a fancy way of saying "we care about pizza more than you might think humanly possible." Located in Enterprise Park on Drakemire Drive, Sub Rosa is part of that new wave of pizza places that take their dough seriously. They offer 20% off your first online order (because they want you to come back, obviously), have their own app for ordering, and they "cherish sustainability and community connections, fostering a cozy and welcoming atmosphere." They're not just slinging slices – they're building relationships, one Detroit-style rectangle at a time. With nearly perfect ratings and a philosophy that includes both craftsmanship AND community, Sub Rosa Pizza is proving that good pizza doesn't need to compromise on values. Quality ingredients, innovation, and that "fostering memories and flavors" vibe – they're doing the whole pizza-as-experience thing and they're doing it well.

What People Are Saying

Sub Rosa Pizza has established itself as one of Glasgow's most celebrated pizza destinations, consistently earning exceptional praise for its spot on pizzas, top-quality ingredients, and genuine care from the owner. The pizzeria has been described as hidden pizza Mecca of the South Side, best of Neapolitan pizza with a dash New Haven, and easily one of the best pizzas ever had, with reviewers consistently awarding it high ratings and expressing their eagerness to return.

The food at Sub Rosa receives outstanding reviews, with pizzas consistently described as spot on, absolutely delivered, superb, easily one of the best pizzas ever had, and featuring crisp, chewy base, top-quality toppings, and bold flavours that actually live up to the hype. The Detroit white base pizza is described as superb and easily one of the best pizzas ever had, and the chicken is described as a game changer. The quality of ingredients is described as really shows, and the tender beef is cut into Korean bite sized strips, with the crust described as cooked perfectly. The food quality is such that reviewers note it's good to see someone doing something a bit different in Glasgow, and the pizza is described as 0 flop. However, there have been some concerns raised about consistency, with one reviewer noting chewy pizza dough, not much fluff in the crust so ended up feeling leathery, and the cheese topping just ended up making it look and taste like your average Glasgow pizza, though they noted the good tang to the tomato base and that the crust was cooked perfectly.

Delivery service receives mixed feedback, with one reviewer noting it arrived earlier than expected, piping hot, and with a free dip thrown in for good measure, while another reviewer noted a 1 1/2 hour delivery time meant this was a much anticipated pizza, and it was OK but worth the wait...no, suggesting delivery times may vary.

The owner, Dom, receives specific commendations for genuinely caring, with reviewers noting there's real pride in what they're doing here, and it shows not just in the food, but in how they treat their customers. Reviewers note Sub Rosa isn't just turning out great pizza, they're building something special, demonstrating the owner's commitment and passion.

The pizzeria's location is noted as a pain to find as there's no signs anywhere, and it's hidden in an industrial estate, though reviewers provide helpful directions for finding it.

Value perception varies, with reviewers noting the pizza is great, but at £14 for the base + £2/topping it quickly becomes quite expensive for what is, at the end of the day, a pizza. One reviewer noted a pizza with 2 toppings and a garlic dip came to just under £40 delivered (though they had a 20% discount which brought it down closer to £30). However, reviewers note that although it's expensive, you realise why as soon as you take a bite, the quality of the ingredients really shows, suggesting that while prices are high, the quality justifies it for those willing to pay.

For visitors to Glasgow, Sub Rosa has become a destination that many feel is essential to experience, with reviewers describing it as the hidden pizza Mecca of the South Side and expressing their certainty to return. The pizzeria's ability to deliver spot on pizzas, top-quality ingredients, and genuine care has earned it enthusiastic recommendations. Whether you're seeking easily one of the best pizzas ever had, best of Neapolitan pizza with a dash New Haven, or simply something a bit different in Glasgow, Sub Rosa consistently delivers experiences that reviewers describe as spot on, superb, and highly recommend. The combination of quality food, top-quality ingredients, genuine care, and something different makes it a standout establishment, though guests should be aware that pricing is on the higher side and the location can be difficult to find.

Second time ordering from Sub Rosa, but first time trying their delivery…and it absolutely delivered (in every sense). The pizza was spot on. Crisp, chewy base, top-quality toppings, and bold flavours that actually live up to the hype. It arrived earlier than expected, piping hot, and with a free dip thrown in for good measure. You can tell Dom, the owner, genuinely cares. There’s real pride in what they’re doing here, and it shows; not just in the food, but in how they treat their customers. Sub Rosa isn’t just turning out great pizza, they’re building something special. Safe to say I’ll be recommending, and already looking forward to sharing with friends next time we order.

The pizza is great, but at £14 for the base + £2/topping it quickly becomes quite expensive for what is, at the end of the day, a pizza. However, if you want a good pizza and don't mind paying a reasonable chunk of money for it, I would reccomend! Also, Sub Rosa is a pain to find as there's no signs anywhere. So, directions: as you walk into the industrial estate you want to go in the door under the big car ramp (see pictures!), go up the stairs, through the door and then take a left and walk down until you find unit 34! (Don't walk right behind the whole industrial unit looking for it - it's not there!!)

Tried a takeaway from Sub Rosa, ordered the Detroit white base pizza and it was superb. It's easily one of the best pizzas I've ever had. It's not cheap with a pizza with 2 toppings and a garlic dip coming to just under £40 delivered but I had a 20% discount which brought it down closer to £30. Although it's expensive you realise why as soon as you take a bite, the quality of the ingredients really shows. It's good to see someone doing something a bit different in Glasgow and will definitely be ordering again
