Marini's Fish & Chips

An old haunt from back in the day, and I was back home I thought I’d pop in. Really good service, very friendly staff and special fish was made fresh to order. The fritters are legendary, and everything was beautifully cooked and very tasty. Best of all, I was with my daughter and she didn’t know what the pizza crunch was, so after some banter with the staff, they even tossed one in for us so she could try it! Brilliant stuff, would highly recommend it.

Cross contamination pickle sitting on fish returned to pickle jar - I visited here last night to collect my mum and dad’s order that they phoned in. Fish supper Black pudding supper 2 pickles 2 cans of cola (added on in store) I paid via card once I arrived and waited for the food to be ready. It’s important to note for later in this review that they have a £5 minimum charge The issue came towards the end of the visit when they were boxing up the food. The staff advised me they forgot to charge for the pickles. Due to their £5 minimum charge, They couldnt recharge the pickles. A staff member demanded another staff member removed the two pickles from the order. I watched in horror as the staff member scooped the pickles up and put them back in the jar. These pickles were sitting on the fish and the black pudding. I couldn’t believe that 1) the pettiness from their mistake from undercharging 40p a pickle, to then removing the pickle from the food boxes after already serving them 2) I watched in horror as staff then placed them back in the pickle jar. Could you imagine if someone was allergic to fish but ordered a pickle? The food was also covered in salt and vinegar. The pickles should have been binned and to be honest I can’t believe they even removed them from the box of food themselves. The food itself was good but im you concerned about the hygiene of this establishment.

Ordered Regular Battered Single Fish, Single Smoked Sausage, Sausage Supper & Portion of Fritters, When Delivery arrived I noticed that the Regular Battered Single Fish was not a slice of fish but a slice of fish which has been HALVED down the centre of the fish (NOT A SINGLE FISH), If you want full Single Fish, you have to order a LARGE SINGLE FISH.

Ordered the special fish and chips, a lot of breadcrumb and not a lot of fish. I've recently moved from Harrogate with award winning Fish and chips and know my stuff. Biggest HATE! having to pay £4 for delivery on a £10 order from 0.6 miles down the road 😭😭😭

Working in area recommended by local workers. Did not disappoint fish and chips were fantastic clearly fresh fish.
