Al Manzar is an Indian and Glasgow-style takeaway at 61–65 Glasgow Road, Rutherglen (G73), offering collection and delivery rather than a sit-down restaurant. The menu mixes curries (set meal for one with pakora, curry, rice, naan and poppadoms at about £15), kebabs, pizzas, pakora and munchy boxes; its own house Al Manzar Special (spicy chicken, spicy mince and donner, about £9) and mixed kebab (about £10) are among its most popular items. You can order through its own site and app, through Scoffable, or by phone on 0141 647 7888. Most curries, kebabs and pizzas sit roughly in the £5–£12 range. Reviews are mostly positive (Google about 4.1 from 100+ reviews; 84% on Scoffable’s recent reviews). Regulars praise the kebabs, pizzas, generous portions and quick delivery, but some recent reviews mention watery or overly sweet curries and food that was cold on collection. Its own sites make no halal or BYOB statement, so check with the shop if either matters to you.
Revisited after taking a break for about a year. Food still amazing everything we get from here is always on the money. Great takeaway and we have a 12 mile round trip to collect food. But don't mind as its well worth the petrol.So sorry to add an edit to my review went back again new years day 25 Got my usual lamb korma.. It was terrible Tasted like someone had went crazy with the sugar it was so sweet I couldn't eat it Gutted. ...
Read on Google MapsI originally gave the Almanzar a good review. But after taking a break from it we came back after around a 6 months. To try again and our last 2 visits in the space of 2 weeks have been very dissapointing. The lamb korma we had the sauce was very thin and was so sweet it was not edible. We then got the 16inch box and a garlic and chilli chicken. The box was not good. Couldn't tell what was what under the hard batter. And what annoyed us was we ordered on app to be ready for 8.15. But we got there around 7.50 expecting to wait but it was lying there ready for collection and stone cold by the time we made 20min drive home. It's a shame as we really liked this place.
Read on Google MapsUsually the word food means it can be consumed what i received tonight was vile I genuinely can’t even think of one thing nice to say, I have no idea where it gets it’s positive reviews for but clearly they have zero taste buds or extremely intoxicated. I genuinely thought I had eaten the worst this side of Glasgow has to offer unfortunately this place has now taken that position. Honestly wouldn’t waste your cash for food that isn’t even fit for pig food and I wouldn’t be surprised if they turned their snout at it. Thankyou for an awful experience hopefully you improve in the future.
