226 Gallowgate is a pub next to the Barrowland Ballroom, described on its website as "one of Scotland's best-known pubs" with "a new lease of life". It keeps a packed schedule, from football viewings and live music to quizzes, pre-gig warmups and workshops. The bar serves cold pints and crafted cocktails, and food on Fridays and Saturdays comes from Smoke & Marrow. The venue is also available for private hire. Seating ranges from high bar tables and long tables to a seat by the fire or a spot outside. Reservations of any size are welcome, as are walk-ins. If you are booking to watch live sport, book the indoor bar area. Opening hours are Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday 11am-10pm and Friday-Saturday 11am-midnight. It is closed on Monday and Tuesday unless there is a Barrowland gig, when it opens from 5pm. Phone: 0141 564 1315.
Popped in for a drink with my wife, daughter and daughter in law before we attended a wedding. What a brilliant surprise. The barstaff were happy to chat, explaining the drinks of the day and providing table service. Cocktails were generous and enjoyed. Well played. Bravo 👏.
Read on Google MapsAbsolutely a gem of a bar. Never had food, though the loaded fries looked insanely good. Probably the best service I’ve had in any hospitality premises, and I’ve been to many. Gordon was amazing. His chat with the customers was next level, especially with a family sitting next to me from Spain. He’s an Absolute gentleman. Even if you don’t drink or eat food, coming here and speaking with Gordon will be a joy.
